Let's make the collabing process easier!

Have you ever tried to collab and saw that it is pretty difficult? Well, I think that should be changed. For example, you maybe could invite people to collab. The person will accept it, and they can collab. Also, both of you could be able to come in the same project at same time. More about the features I thought of here. Feel free to discuss the idea down below! Thank you!

Live editing is rejected due to the server problems it would create.
Other parts of this have probably been suggested before, but let's leave this up until someone can provide a link to a duplicate topic.
Thanks!

Well you wouldn't have to be live you know. one person could edit the project then send the changes to the other person. and if they accept the changes then it would change the project.

It would also have to be shared, otherwise it could be used for private messaging, and there would have to be some system for locking the project while someone else is editing. Also, there would have to be a way of finding who is responsible if the project has inappropriate content.

You can do that through remixing.

But with remixing, 1, there remixes pile up. 2, The title wouldn't say “By User1 and User2” it would only say "By *only one of the people*). 3, the other person can not accept or decline the other's changes.

They can decline by reverting to a previous version. (IE: downloading and ovverwriting the existing file.)

I think there should be a reporting feature. You are right about that. And, maybe the Scratch Team could be able to see all the messages so they could give alerts if someone is doing something like private messaging, using bad terms, etc. Also, maybe the bad word detector could also be in this feature.

Maybe not live, but maybe something like allowing one person at a time? I'm still thinking about this one.

Here is my opinion about this idea. So, you would have to wait until the other person logs in and agrees? The person who made the changes would have to wait (possibly) a long time for the changes to be actually saved. Plus, if the change was a teeny-tiny bug fix, that wouldn't be fair for the person who made changes because they would have to wait for some time to just get something small to be saved.

Thanks for looking at my comments and suggestions for this topic, and I'll see you later!

Yeah but as I said, the remixes still pile up

Not really, I did a collab in only 6 remixes.

Good idea but, make sure that you cannot go on someone else's sprite or it could cause a fight.

That kinda ruins it. The point of collabs is working together; but having to be in completely different workspaces doesn't help.

Our current system can do collabing just fine. You don't even have to keep sharing projects, you can just have everything in one project that is updated for new information.

That is the same thing as live editing. Due to difficult moderating, the Scratch Team decided not to add live editing due to this problem unless a solution can be found.

Then, the person you are collaborating with won’t know which features are new and which features are old.

Isn't it obvious to know what is new and what is old?
What is old is whatever you sent to them.
What is new is whatever you did not send to them.

BOOM
