A Scratch Wiki app

Hey Scratchers, New Scratchers and Scratch Team members!
I have a little idea that could make a big difference for the Scratch Wiki. How about we have an app that exclusively browses the Scratch Wiki? This would be perfect for people who read the Wiki on the go (like me, I'm typing this with an iPad) and would be a lot cleaner than the current interface we have. If the Scratch Wiki is a Wikipedia for Scratch, why not have a mobile app for it like Wikipedia does? It would help a lot. People could learn more about Scratch on the go, as they went to school or work.
That's all I have to say for now. I may expand this suggestion, and if I do so, it will be here:

I'm just going to point out:

1. A Scratch mobile app has already been speculated, and pretty sure 'rejected'
2. As for them to work on a mobile app for something that a minuscule amount of people use? Eh…

Think before you act.
Actions speek louder than words.

We can already do this, just go to scratch on your phone and go to the wiki.
Unless if you mean offline, just spend some of your own time saving all the pages you want to read offline later.

No support, just open up the wiki on your mobile browser. If you want to read them offline, just save them to iBooks.

Why shouldn't we do this with Wikipedia then? Why have a Wikipedia app if you can just do the same with it?

A Scratch Wiki app

As one of the developers for the current skin and someone who has actually developed a mobile app, I can tell you that making a Wiki app would be a lot of trouble for not a huge benefit. A better idea would be to make a more mobile-friendly skin (or possibly even an entire mobile-specific skin), as that would be much easier and wouldn't involve the trouble that apps often do but would still allow users on mobile devices to view articles without trouble.

kenny2scratch cited Wikipedia as a counterargument to my point. Wikipedia has much greater developer resources and a much larger userbase, making it more worthwhile. Additionally, if you view Wikipedia on a mobile browser, it is pretty painless.

We do have plans to redesign the skin at some point in the future (whenever the Scratch Team rolls out the layout used on the front page to all pages). When we do, we will try to make it more mobile-friendly.

Thanks, jvvg. I see your point. I do use the second skin available when logged in because it looks much nicer. Closing now.
