To get more views go to Show and tell instead of suggestions. This topic isn't for getting more views, it's some suggestions so new/high quality projects will get more views.
Most of the time, in Show and Tell most threads don't get viewed much, people usually go there to promote their own projects only.

I don't know why out of all the posts in this topic, that is the one everyone is discussing.

I view projects of who I'm following, from studios of topics I like, and by clicking on names on comments or forum posts.
If you make a good project, then no matter what it will eventually get views. I don't think a change in the search system or explore or whatever will change it – the previous websites had good search systems and even then there projects that people would not view.
I think being active and trying to improve your programming skills are the ways to getting more views.

I think making creative projects really help in earning views.
My originality challenge got over 500 views for example, because of how unique it was.

I agree. With the current system, if a Scratcher has lots of followers, they are more likely to get front paged, because they will get more loves and remixes than unpopular scratchers. Basically i'm staying top loved and top remixed can only happen to popular scratchers. (i mean, you don't even need to follow Griffpatch to see his newest projects because they easily get frontpaged)I support, I would like to see a wider variety of projects on the front page. An alternative would be to add (instead of replace) the recent projects, however this part would fill up pretty quick as a lot of projects are being shared per minute. So maybe add a “recent in your area” so if you live in Australia, then you would see recent projects only from Australia. (You can change the location if you so wish)How about just make the Recent tab the default on the explore page, and remove the Popular one? Only about 5 projects get displayed at once on the front page and not many people are going to keep scrolling through.
Also agree with the tags and everything else you said there.

Yep. The current default tab is “Trending” and usually consists of featured or curated projects or projects that are already popular, and doesn't do much to draw attention to completely new projects.

Support.
When I used to browse projects, I remember when I got lucky and hit a very good project that wasn't popular at all, nor made by a popular scratcher. Of course I stopped browsing because I couldn't find anymore unique projects.
It would be nice to do that again.

I would blame the OP of that topic (considering they were advertising the idea in previous pages)I don't know why out of all the posts in this topic, that is the one everyone is discussing.

To get more views go to Show and tell instead of suggestions.I actually made a suggestion talking about how useless it is.
Show and Tell forum is a joke of an alternative.

Number 1 I support this decision, before looking at the explore page I usually check the front page before going into explore, so I've already checked out all the popular stuff that's usually on the explore page. So if I saw something I like the look of on the explore page, I would click it, the same goes for many other scratchers, this doesn't decrease the popularity of front paged projects by much, but its helpful for newer scratchers.
Number 2 I really want tags back, it was helpful for finding projects I wanted to see, like AMVs and MAPs. It could really help boost project popularity of projects as well, I used to get most my views from tags but recently I haven't gotten as nearly as many views. Supporting this.
Number 3 I don't quite agree with this, if the ST stops featuring a certain type of project as much, not because of the lack of effort, but because of type, it means people who make that type of project wont get as many views, even if they put lots of effort into it. The ST could just mix up the projects a little more though, not just show them by the date they were suggested, This way all the deserving projects will get attention and other project genres will get a bit of respect.
Number 4 You have my full support here! I'm surprised the ST hasn't added them added them yet, these will definitely be helpful for people trying to find projects and for people trying to get more views. I thought their used to filters, before they redesigned the search. I do remember the filters being Most recent, Most hearted, Most viewed and Trending.

As for number 3, I hate how any violence means no feature. That should be changed to allow mild violence. Because obviously you wouldn't want to feature an all out fighting game or a first-person shooter, but “no violence” makes RPG's unable to be featured, even though they are projects which take a lot more time and work than those seemingly unlimited featured platformers. So the ST should allow minor violence to be featured.

snepShow and tell is a good idea, except it isn't practical
Show and Tell forum is a joke of an alternative.
I mean, what's the point of advertising if nobody looks at it
And only a small handful of users use the forums anyway

I agree. I'm currently working on an expansive RPG (as in a full game with full features) and also a challenging platformer with different level design. The RPG can't be featured because it has mild fighting and the majority of platformers that get featured usually have very similar level design (level 1=no obstacles, level 2=one wall, level 3=lava) and generally don't have much variety.
I definitely think it would be good to loosen up on this violence restriction and also to feature more varied projects.

Yeah. The featured section should be where almost ALL projects can go (Not just platformers, animations, art and the occasional pen project). The featured projects are the first thing a new user sees when they visit Scratch for the first time, so it should reflect the whole community.
