My book: Slenderman Chapter 1

Chapter 1
Moving Trees
My entire family was in the car. We were going on a camping trip, that is, if Anna didn’t kill us first. It felt too crowded with my sister only two feet away singing ‘we’re almost there, we’re almost there, we’re almost theeeerrrre!’ over and over again. On her fourth verse, I pinched her, and told her to shut up. She burst into tears and yelled
“Mommy, Daddy! Jason pinched me!”
“No I didn’t!” I responded quickly.
“Yes you did!”
“Are you two getting along back there?” Dad asked.
“Yes” we both replied. We looked away from each other, and stared out the windows. As I was watching, I noticed one of the trees was following us. My eyes widened, and I nearly ruined my new pair of jeans.
“Dad, floor it!” I whimpered.
“What was that, sweetheart?” he asked kindly, but I could tell he was upset.
“FLOOR IT!” I screamed at the top of my lungs.
“Jason, wha-” Mom tried to ask.
“FLOOR IT NOW!” I screamed, louder than I ever had before.
“Jason, be quiet! I am trying to drive!”
The tree was suddenly in front of the car. The tree, I noticed, was humanoid, with white skin, and no face. The tree had extremely long limbs, a dark three piece suit, and black tendrils on its back, that were swiftly smashing up the car. All electronics in the car went haywire, as if they were all half broken, or couldn’t find a signal. One of the many tendrils smashed through the left side window, and grabbed my dad by the throat. He was pulled out of the car, and thrown into the woods, with who knows how many other tree creatures. The creature flipped the car, and was gone. Time seemed to slow down. All our camping gear was floating around us. The air pressure in the car wouldn’t make up its mind. Then, as quickly as it started, it was over.
I was hanging upside down, which I was almost glad for, because the roof of the car was littered with glass shards and broken camping gear. I noticed a small trickle of blood in running into my open mouth. My tablet stopped making static noises. I was suddenly aware of the sharp pain in my lower ribcage, just below the heart. Then I noticed I was slowly being lowered towards the ground. My seatbelt suddenly snapped. I hit the floor hard, and went unconscious.
I remembered the moving trees, and the car being flipped, but it was all so vague. I thought it had all been a bad dream, that I was really in my warm, comfy bed, with mom bugging me to get up, and get ready for school. I opened my eyes, but I had no such luck. It was nighttime, and raining. I could hear sirens in the distance. I really hoped that the sirens meant help was coming, and not another mutant tree.
I tried to get out of the car, but the doors were jammed, and the roof was still littered with glass and broken camping gear. I screamed as loud as I could, then yelled “Oh god, why? Why did it have to be me?!” then a soothing thought came to mind. A thought that, in a normal situation, would have been disturbing. I am alive! I thought. I am alive, while, hundreds of people have died in the last five minutes! I had no idea why this was soothing, but it was.
The next five minutes felt like the longest, and worst, five minutes of my life. After what seemed like three days, several rescue one trucks pulled up. Three men helped to pry the doors open, to find two bodies, a missing driver, and a twelve year old. First, they injected me with drugs to put me to sleep. Everything after that is vague, but I remember, they checked everyone’s pulse, including mine, and they made sure everyone was breathing. I remember being put into one of the trucks on what, to me, seemed like a hammock. I had two men, sit on a bench on one side of me. I don’t remember which side. One of them was bandaging me, while the other injected me with several drugs. The whole time I couldn’t feel a thing. Then, I fell asleep.
I was lying in a bed, in strange clothing. I had a paper band on my right wrist. I couldn’t read what it said though, because everything was blurry and spinning. I assumed it probably said something like ‘Jason Kole Tawret, mutant tree’ or something. I looked around slowly. To my surprise, there were no nurses or doctors or surgeons or anything in the room. Up in the left corner, was a small black square I was assuming was a TV. On a small table beside me was a large glass of water, and a potted plant. On my right was what looked like a blue coat hanger? I tried to see normally, and after a minute, my vision slowly turned back to normal. I saw I had two small pouches of O+ blood. I thought that wasn’t quite right, because I was AB+, not O+. I also had a clip on my finger, which apparently monitored my heart rate. My heart was going at 32 BPM, which made me panic, which made the BPM go up to 62. I would have laughed, if it didn’t hurt.
“His heart rate is steadily rising, as we give him blood. That’s a good sign” said a female voice from outside the door. The door slowly opened, and two nurses walked in.
“Oh hi!” exclaimed one of the nurses.
“Hi” I grumbled back. “What am I doing here?” I slowly asked.
“Uhh… you are rehabilitating. You got into a car wreck. Remember?” she asked. My heart rate went from 63 to 82, then to 65. I suddenly gasped.
“The trees! Don’t go near the trees! They are secretly alien shape shifters here to kill us all!” I half yelled. The nurses looked at each other. One of them got out a radio and said “Can we get a neurosurgeon and a counselor in room 104 for hallucination and post traumatic stress? Thank you”
I groaned “I am telling you! The tree was walking, then it, like, flipped our car, it took my dad, please I am telling the truth!” I yelled.
“It’s fine. You got into a normal car accident. We are going to have a neurosurgeon take a look at you, see what needs doing” right then, two men walked into the room. With my left hand, I picked up my glass of water, and feebly threw it at them. The neurosurgeon gestured at the door. The nurse radioed “And a mop?”
The man on the right, (probably the counselor) took a seat, and asked me about what happened. I recounted what I remembered. Or in other words, a tree tried to kill me. He was jotting it all down on a notepad.
“Describe this… creature to me”
“Well, it was tall, and white, with extremely long limbs, tentacles, a black suit, and a blood red tie, as I described to you so long ago… how long was it? Uhh maybe… five seconds ago?” I retorted, very upset with the service of this place. The counselor sighed, exasperated.
“Are you sure it wasn’t just your imagination?” he asked.
“Unless my imagination can kill my entire family and flip a car then yes!” I growled, stomping my foot.
“Yes, yes yes. But where was the driver?”
“As I said, oh… I dunno… ten seconds ago? He was killed by a shape shifting alien tree!” I had just noticed the neurosurgeon, Dr. King, was also taking notes.
“Maybe we should do a CT scan, to check for damages to the limbic system, made sure it’s all working properly. We can continue this tomorrow” suggested Dr. King.
“That might be a good idea” confirmed Dr. Adams. That was the day I learned the beds in a hospital are portable. They just have a brake on them. Pull that lever, and off they go! I was pushed into a room with a big tube. They put me into the tube, still on the bed. After a while of waiting, the counselor pushed me back into room 104 and put the brakes on, and left, telling me if I needed anything, to just push the button to my left.
My heart rate was now a healthy 102. I was still confused on why they would use O+ on someone with AB+ blood, but if it worked, I wasn’t complaining. The analog clock said it was 6:35, the digital clock said it was 5:35. I decided to believe the digital clock, because it didn’t have any set time buttons, and so probably got it’s info from satellites. I grabbed the remote, and turned on the TV. I switched it to the news, and immediately saw me trapped in the car. Then I saw my parents, before they were dead, walking down the street. Mr. and Mrs. Tawret were killed in this tragic accident, when a drunk driver was driving in the wrong lane, and hit them head on.
“That’s not true! It was an alien tree!” I shouted at it. I really hated when the news made up random facts.
The boy, Jason Tawret, now in St. Alphonsus in Ontario Oregon, claims to have seen a living tree, which morphed into a half-human state.
“It isn’t a claim, it’s the truth!” I shouted.
The boy, has been marked as delirious, since 11:15 this morning.
No, I haven’t! They just noticed I was talking about the effing tree! What the flip?! Are they, like, broadcasting me live for money?!
Thank you, alphonsus, for broadcasting this information. Now we will have-
I turned the TV off. I felt betrayed. The hospital itself, has given out lies about me, to the entire country. I threw the remote, with a little more force than intended, and turned the sink on, while smashing the remote, and the mirror, and soaking the floor. I didn’t do anything about it, though. The running water was soothing. I didn’t want them to turn it off. But with twenty four hour surveillance, I didn’t doubt they would be in here any second now. When the Janitors, and nurses did arrive, I was drugged, and moved to another, padded, empty room. No TV, No sink, No machinery, anything. I almost thought: Moving trees would be better than this.

Hoped you enjoyed!
