Like, what am I trying to do? Does all action take place in the rp's gallery? What's the goal? Where am I? Where am I supposed to be? etc

Basically, jump into a roleplay with another person (myself or TG would be best so we can fill you in), and you have your character contribute to the war, which right now is either defending the central core (Team Turret) or trying to keep Team Turret occupied so Surge and GLaDOS can take control (Team GLaDOS). You're in Aperture, and what happens depends to be honest. And the roleplays take place just about anywhere.

2 mins later: *grabbed to the side* X; what the- *knocked out silently while generaless continues walking*

some time later: *X wakes up* Unknown voice: how would you like to join team black mesa, us humans gotta stick together. X: hmmm……

X: And I would like to point out that the revolutionary war was only won by the americans because of help from allies, the french, and that certain circumstance is also the same in this war, we'll never win without that little bit of extra help, though we may already have that, I don't know. Maybe I am that extra help, heh heh heh, now THAT would be fun
