Would it be acceptable to create a new email for Scratch purposes only? i.e. A more private collaboration.

A user commented on a project that I had made.
I looked at the user's projects (out of curiosity) and I noticed they had made the same exact project, had not remixed it (so it seemed original), and not given me any credit.
I looked at the date it was last updated just to make sure that it wasn't thought of by the person on their own, and It was updated the day they commented on my project.
I asked if they could give me a little bit of credit, but I haven't gotten a reply or been acknowledged.

I was wondering if this project was against the Scratch Community Guidelines and if it would be okay to flag the project?

How do you plan on using the e-mail? We don't allow users sharing e-mail addresses on the Scratch website.

You can flag the project down, but be sure to give a link to your project in the report so the ST knows which two project to compare.

Well, that answers the question. If it was allowed my idea was to use it to communicate with one or two other Scratchers for a more secret collaboration, so the final project's release would be even more awesome. Plus easier notification.

I found a Minecraft project that has the first letter of a bad word and then it has 3 *'s after it. Is it okay for the scratch community? The link is .

Hi giratina12, if the word is easy to figure out, then you can flag it and the ST can take a look.

By the way, this isn't the right place to be reporting projects that may have inappropriate content in them. We prefer if people use the flag functions instead so that it's less likely for users to find bad content.

Yeah, you probably should report it. If it is the exact same project and they haven't given credit or even let it on the remix tree then it's plagarism.

It depends on the project itself. A “Don't Do Drugs” project is usually okay, a project that references drug usage usually ends up getting NFE'd or censored, depending on what is in the project. Keep in mind that this is site used by Scratchers of various ages, including children - so the content needs to be viewable by all ages.

A fair rule of thumb I like to think about when making projects: if this is something that you make your family/teachers/friends very uncomfortable when seeing it, then chances are that it's not okay for Scratch

If it's a sound file, just use a sound editor to remove the bad language (shameless beta plug-in: Scratch 2.0 now has some basic sound editing capabilities, you can use that to edit the file. ) It it's bubble text, use cartoon swearing like &$#@! If I were to make an online leader board, maybe people would be able to post short messages along with their score like “Try to beat my score!” And it would show up on a cloud list next to their score. The problem is that, as many of you know already, cloud variables are a very easy way for people to post inappropriate content. So would it be allowed for me to make a list of a bunch of swear words within the project, and have it automatically block all those words if someone tries to post them? The only problem is that people would be able to still see inside the project and read all the swear words within that list. So would that be okay or not?

No, because then people could look inside and see the swear words. It's a cool idea, but even with a good swear detector, you could still bully. I could easily say something really mean without swearing. (I can't think of anything now cuz I'm just too nice ) The best would be to have either a safe chat style thing, or, based on your score, you could earn different types of messages.

One example of a mean thing that doesn't contain any bad/negative words that has been going around as an example is “you have the intelligence of paste”. See? It's mean but has nothing to censor out.

Maybe there could be a list of phrases/sentences to post on a cloud list. Users could select something from that list and none of the things would be inappropriate.

I think thay can drag the scripts and sprites from your project into the backpack then drag it all into a new project,
Because it's a new project, it does not count as a remix.

How mature can a project be for it not to be flagged? Because im making a project that has a dark atmosphere (everythings really grey and dark) and a sort of dark storyline. I also wanted some levels to be kinda scary (like navigating through a dark sewer).

Well, that's often hard to determine - the website is open to all different kinds of users having different ages and different upbringings, some have a higher tolerance of a scare level, others do not. And even the Scratch Team has some disagreements on what is and isn't okay for the site.

It sounds like you're afraid that a project flag will get you in trouble, but that is not always the case. Flagging a project doesn't mean the project won't get automatically censored - it's really up to administrator taking care of flags on that day to make the call on whether a project should be removed from the site.

When the Scratch Team receives a flag report, they may give it one of three ratings. To give a quick rundown :
- FE (For Everyone): projects that are viewable for all ages
- NFE (Not For Everyone): projects that contain content that OK in the cultural context of the US media, but one that the Scratch Team would rather not emphasize. Note that projects like this cannot make it to the front page).
- Censored: projects that contain mature content

It sounds like your storyline might fall into the NFE area, though it's hard to tell without actually seeing the project content itself. If the ultimate goal is to never receive a project flag, you're probably thinking in the wrong direction - more often than not, if a project contains some kind of questionable content, someone will likely take notice and flag the project to alert the Scratch Team that the project needs to be reviewed.
