The move to Transifex has been completed

I just noticed that translations have finished moving to Transifex now.

The instructions are in the wiki: https://wiki.scratch.mit.edu/wiki/How_to_Translate_Scratch

The move to Transifex has been completed

Thanks @GunChleoc for letting people know.

Just to confirm, we exported all reviewed translation strings from the pootle server on Feb 3rd. Almost everything has been imported to Transifex**.
The next time Scratch is released (end of February), the strings will be coming from Transifex, not pootle. Over the next months we'll start to add tags to make it easier to find the priority strings that need to be translated first, and context images for strings that could be confusing. Do add comments/issues in Transifex to let us know what strings are hard to find or confusing so we know what to do first.

**A language wasn't imported if it had fewer than 10 translations. This usually happened when a language was requested, but then nobody had the time to actually translate it. We'll happily add these languages if we get translators for them on Transifex.

The other reason for not importing a language was that it is not yet defined in Transifex, for example Abkhaz (ab). Transifex will happily add languages for us, but we need to provide documentation of the plural rules. (If someone can point me at something that documents the plural rules for Abkhaz, that would be very helpful - I have not found it in the usual places I look)

We appreciate your patience through this transition and hope that you'll all sign up on Transifex and continue to help. Also note that the pootle server will be unavailable after Feb 28. It will be available until then if you want to download po files, but it will not be updated with new strings from Scratch this month.

I found an Abkhaz grammar: https://www.academia.edu/9062524/Abkhaz_Grammar

Chapter 2.1.6 Numbers

There are 2 plural forms. It doesn't say anything on distribution, so that would leave us with:

nplurals=2; plural = (n != 1);

However, in

Chapter 2.4.4 Syntactic Position of the Numerals

It says:

Starting with ‘two’ and until 11, numerals can be preposed to the word they modify … after 10, the numerals are used separately from the noun.

So, that splits our plural into 2-10, 11-*, leaving us with 3 plural forms.

nplurals=3; plural= (n==1) ? 0 : (n>1 && n<11) ? 1 : 2;

I still don't know where the 0 goes, best try to contact the ab localizers via Pootle and ask them.

Akerbeltz has dug up the rule that Wikipedia uses: https://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=MediaWiki:Pagecategories/ab&action=edit

It's the same as for English.

nplurals=2; plural = (n != 1);

Is there a different way to communicate issues/questions on Transifex or should we post on this forum?

I am not sure why the Pootle editor shows different statistics compared to Transifex.
Edit: I think Transifex shows strings, while Pootle shows words

I'd like to know why the Editor shows different values and what is the meaning of the different classification in Pootle vs. Transifex

For the language Marathi, Pootle shows:
Project, Total, Need translation
Scratch blocks 470, 150
Scratch Editor 1019, 941
Scratch Tips Window 19934, 19934
Scratch Website 18825, 18825

Transifex shows:
Project, Total, Untranslated
Editor-full 611, 422
tips 2004, 2004
web 1164, 1164
Web-js 57, 57

If you go to the “Languages” view in Transifex and click on a resource, you get statistics for both strings and words.

There might also be some differences due to the import done.

When I need developers' attention on Transifex, I usually open an issue in the string's comment section. Transifex also has a forum, but I personally find it pretty useless.
