King Crimson. I can't really define their music style. It just works.

Bands and Music [i guess]
All praise the music topics!
My favourite artists list is mostly flooded with singer-songwriters unfortunately, but I do have a couple of bands in that list as well. They all make some pretty strange stuff though, so it might be a curve for some people to listen to.
Lemon Demon - mostly alt rock. Don't be fooled by the exterior; despite the subject matter and playful nature, this isn't a children's band. Inspired by They Might Be Giants. Technically just one guy, but they play as a full band on occasion. 2005-2009 is most representative of this band's alternative material, but Spirit Phone (released last year) is my favourite Lemon Demon album and favourite album of all time.
Talking Heads - post-punk, taps into other genres on some of their albums. Everything about this band was and is relatively weird. The vocals, the guitar, the bass, the drums, nothing is conventional. However, they were one of the big players in the New Wave movement that changed up a lot of our modern music. For that reason, a lot of their sound is still pretty fresh. I like all of their stuff from 1977-1983. Their later stuff is pretty good as well, but they lost a bit of their edge at that point IMO.
Depeche Mode - alt-rock covered in synthpop. I originally wasn't going to add this since I view them more as a pop group than a band, but it would have been embarrassing to just list two bands and hope to get away with it. I personally enjoy all of their albums for different reasons. People usually highlight the Alan Wilder period as the best of their material (1983-1993).
Smash Mouth - rock, pop and ska. Okay, they aren't really one of my favourites, but their first two albums are surprisingly good. I've yet to listen to the others.
