Awarding scratchers with senority
I have an idea. Could scratchers be able to get a medal next to their username that would represent how long they have been active on scratch?
For example, A gold medal for scratchers over 5 years, a silver medal for scratchers over 3 years and a bronze medal for scratchers over a year. I know websites like Reddit and Ebay do this as well. It would look something like this: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/141254942/

What purpose would this serve, besides being a little decoration? You can still view how long they've been on for on their profile.

yea, just a decoration. But why not? What purpose would this serve, besides being a little decoration? You can still view how long they've been on for on their profile.

I had a suggestion like this once. It's a good idea in my opinion, but everyone says that people would talk down to Scratchers who don't have any medals, etc. Even though people can do the same thing with followers =_= Idk, it's not happening, sorry. No support. It doesn't add anything and it sounds quite similar to the rejected idea of badges. Anyway, it's not that hard to look at the age on someone's profile.

No support. This is very similar to an idea rejected by the stickies:
21. Adding a Rank Above ScratcherI don't agree with it anyway because then it would only encourage bullying and competition.Scratch is not a place for people to worry about ranks. The New Scratcher rank only exists to filter spam, and since it only takes 2 weeks to get a promotion, bullying and separation is minimal. Additionally, this would divide the community between those who have a high rank and those who have a low rank, and there would be lots of bragging and bullying coming from users of higher ranks.

I like the idea, but there would be problems with this kind of feature.
I don't agree with it anyway because then it would only encourage bullying and competition.
And this is also rejected :(

10. Game badges/achievements
This would harm Scratch's purpose, and people would determine their social worth on the site based on achievements in games, and some users would act as if they are more important than others merely because they have more game badges.

its a shame that in this generation everyone needs to be rewarded with a medal or nobody gets one at allI had a suggestion like this once. bullying? competition? lol You can't compete with time. And why would some one bully another because they don't have a token? No support. This is very similar to an idea rejected by the stickies:21. It's not really something that needs a medal though. Some people would think that they have more privilege because they have a higher medal.

Participation levels might be good - it would let you judge how active someone is (more so that just their Scratch age), although people might still spam to force theirs up (see post counts for something similar). If they are shown it should just be some stats on the profile page.-snip-Im just sayin reddit and other websites do it. I thought it would be cool. What if it measures your participation levels too?
Reddit doing it doesn't mean much towards adding it. I'm not going to play the “Scratch isn't social media” card, because to quite a large extent it is, but we don't have to emulate everything from other popular websites.
