We don't allow the ST time off. They are slaves to MIT now
*Gasp*
*shhh… If they aren't made to work 24/7/365(.25) then how will we ever get 3.0 in a timely manner?
We need to halp them. One issue, most of us don't have the time to read and understand ALL the code for S3
Nobody needs to understand all the code of a project to contribute to that project

You need to understand most of it

Reasoning? You need to know a little bit about the part you're going to be working on, but that's about it.

I don't need to read the entire codebase to change the implementation of one block, for instance.

Scratch 3.0

Since Scratch 3.0 seems to be abandoned – in the “let's decide not to change any of the code of the public repositories!” kind of way – I decided to necropost.

Here's a quick (read: not quick) post I made about old MIDI sounds.. LLK/scratch-audio#13

That's quite rude and unfair. Scratch 3.0 is the opposite of “abandoned”. We had Hour of Code (in which over 6 million people came to Scratch in one week) followed by some much deserved time off for the holidays with our families. Please be patient and realize that a small team of real people build Scratch. Scratch 2.0 took over four years to build. Our aggressive schedule for Scratch 3.0 requires dedication and focus, but certainly not at the cost of team burning out.

+1 Thanks very much for that!

Yes, sorry. I did notice that today as I was reading over some old posts related to Scratch 2.0's development about when somebody behaved quite the same as me.

I didn't mean to be rude but I absolutely see I was.

Also, thanks for writing that (and in public, too – it'll stick better). I'll try to be more sensitive and respectful in the future!

Yeah, now that you mention it, why was it a Motion block in the first place?

It changes the way the sprite faces, but not how it behaves; if you set rotation style to left-right, set the direction to 45, and move 10 steps, you still move at a 45 degree angle.

Scratch 3 looks like it's coming along really nicely!

@tb: do you know if there are any plans to implement video in JS?

I pressed the green flag then moved my mouse over the cat. It's FOREVER IF, not IF FOREVER.

I think everyone's already established that

Apparently the block palette is transparent, which is a nice touch IMO.

edit: the controls in the bottom right could be a bit more visible though!

I've got one question about Scratch 3.0. Is this new ‘Cosmicat’ design going to be used as the new Scratch cat for Scratch 3.0?
This is what he/she looks like:

Oh.
I find that fine, though, because it seems that they're going to still call him Scratch.

I love the looks of the current concept sketch for scratch 3.0

I hope there will be an option so you can pick which side the player is on though.

Well, I sort of think that the new layout suits the player on that side.
