Scratch for the 3DS!
- I do not think that there is a contest for the ultimate necro; if there is, please tell me so I can win.
- I don't think that Nintendo would do this because it would not be profitable for them and does not fit with the Nintendo company's theme. A Nintendo Scratch version just wouldn't be practical for Nintendo to make, as it has to make money.

Scratch for the 3DS!
The Nintendo NX is coming out in march 2017, as a processor to the 3DS (in the same way as the 3DS was released in 2011 as a processor to the DS). So, users of the 3DS will start to make the switch to the NX, which is the first thing.
Second, Nintendo ended it's support for the Wii and DS two and a half years ago, and, to guess, the same might happen to the 3DS (and Wii U) around 2019/2020.
TLDR: The 3DS is kinda getting old for Nintendo, if scratch was released on it, it wouldn't get that much attention.

Scratch for the 3DS!
Firstly, it's fine to do what is similar to necroposting on the Suggestions forums, just as long as it is a unimplemented suggestion. Secondly, agreed, as I don't think it would be possible, as publishers, developers, and Nintendo would probably like some share of it.

Scratch for the 3DS!
A version of Scratch for the 3DS would be cool. No matter what, it would have to be somewhat modified – as for one thing, 3DSs don't have keyboards… I find it interesting that everyone here is so adamant it won't work. I remember having a DSi and a game called Petit Computer (GOOGLE IT IT IS SO COOL
) and learning BASIC from it. My point being, that a DSi could run some really advanced programs… so why can't a 3DS?

Scratch for the 3DS!
The 3DS has Petit Computer too! I actually have it! Unfortunately it is no longer on the eShop anymore, but it was on the 3DS. There is a new version of Petit Computer called SmileBASIC which is on the eShop, it's only for 3DS however and while SmileBASIC is basically an upgraded Petit Computer, some Petit Computer programs may not run. The good news is that there are new features. A version of Scratch for the 3DS would be cool. Scratch for the 3DS!
Here's a list of reasons why this won't work:
- There's pretty much no point other than to please 7-year-olds who legitimately use the 3DS as a mobile device.
- As sad as this sounds, the 3DS wouldn't be able to handle Scratch.
- Nintendo wouldn't do this.
- It would have to be offline Scratch… the internet connection is… soooooo… bad…
- As I said in the first point - only 7-year-olds who use the 3DS as a mobile device would benefit from this. It's not a priority for ST in any way.

I don't know. I feel like Scratch is already working on mobile versions of the site and as other users have said Scratch probably wouldn't work on 3DS.

Scratch for the 3DS!
Would I like it? Absolutely!
Would the new 3DS be able to run it better? Possibly!
Will it be accepted? Improbable!
Conclusion: Not gonna happen any time soon as far as I'm concerned. Sorry…

Scratch for the 3DS!
At this point, with the Nintendo Switch out and the 3DS (probably) going to die soon, I don't think it will happen. Maybe they could make one for the Nintendo Switch which (from what I've heard) allows you to hook up a keyboard. But it is unlikely, sadly.
Why is such an old topic bumped up here anyway :P

Scratch for the 3DS!
But if it could this would be nice. Support.Sorry, but any DS device will not be able to handle the power of Scratch. I think MIT should ask Nintendo if they can make Scratch for the 3DS and let you download it for free on the Nintendo eShop.

Sorry, but I don't think the 3DS has a big enough screen for all of the blocks.

Scratch for the 3DS!
Obviously mobile devices wouldn't have enough room for the standard Scratch 2.0 editor, so Scratch 3.0 would probably have a different layout for smaller screens. Sorry, but I don't think the 3DS has a big enough screen for all of the blocks.

Scratch for the 3DS!
Even if the 3DS can handle Scratch (by Scratch, I mean the amount of memory in it), I think that scratch.mit.edu on the 3DS is a bad idea, while, it will get more people (especially kids who don't have access to computers) access Scratch, the 3DS in my opinion should stay in entertainment. The 3DS is a video game, not a computer.

Also, it would not be profitable for Nintendo because it doesn't fit well with the company's theme and style of business.

Scratch for the 3DS!
The 3DS console is a video game console and by definition a video game console is a computer. If by computer you mean “PC” then as long as don't share the 3DS it is a “PC”. If by computer you mean desktop computer, place a 3DS on a desk and now by definition it's a desktop computer. The 3DS resembles a small laptop. Both the o3ds and n3ds could run Scratch, especially when Scratch 3 is released. The 3DS is a video game, not a computer.

Scratch for the 3DS!
The 3DS can actually run HTML5 to a certain extent. No Support. Scratch can't work on a 3Ds, but it might work on other devices.Wikipedia: Internet Browser (Nintendo 3DS) Given the minor system requirements for Scratch, the 3DS can handle it. (It is the equivalent of a 64 bit OS I believe.) So it would be should be able to run Scratch 3.0, and HTML5 may not even be needed if it were as a cartridge instead.
Also remember that it is two screens, as the name implies. Sorry, but I don't think the 3DS has a big enough screen for all of the blocks.
The main thing is that the 3DS doesn't really need to run Scratch.
Also, if I didn't mess any data up, it should be able to run 3.0 on the internet browser fine, albeit a bit slowly given the internet browser's loading time. The only thing that should be stopping it now is lack of a flash player.
Actually, after testing it for myself, it could only load the login screen.
