Scratch 2 installation failing on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64-bit
My browser / operating system: Ubuntu Linux, Firefox 44.0, Flash 11.2 (release 202)
Hi,
I have successfully installed Adobe Air–or I think so.
I am able to launch the Adobe AIR Application Installer and select the *.air file to start the installation. I have tried both Scratch-437.air and Scratch-443.air with the same result: I click through various dialog boxes and license acknowledgements and the install process runs for some time. However, it eventually fails with this cryptic error message:
“Sorry an error has occurred. The application could not be installed. Try installing it again. If the problem persists, contact the application author. Error #1”
I'm stuck. Any suggestions?

DrKat123,
This may help you with your Adobe Air install:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/481709/adobe-air-install-problem-ubuntu-x64-14-04
I followed the instructions from the post by “The Hagen”. The specific steps below worked for me. The install reported success. I can launch the Adobe AIR Installer. Does anybody know of an additional way to verify the integrity of the installation?

Just installed Adobe Air on Ubunto 14.04 x64 with two clicks:
Download Debian package from http://airdownload.adobe.com/air/lin/download/2.6/adobeair.deb
Install it (e.g. just be double-clicking in your file browser from your download folder)
Ignore warnings that the package is of low quality, etc. - Adobe apparently doesn't care much about this linux port, so one needs to take what one can get …
Works fine (needed it for playing Defender's quest: http://steamcommunity.com/app/218410/).

Scratch 2 installation failing on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64-bit
I've had troubles installing offline editor too, I'm running Elementary OS Loki (based on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 64 Bit). After finally getting Adobe Air installed, I can run the .air installer, but I get this error:
The application could not be installed because another application is already being installed. Complete the first installation before proceeding with this one.
Anyone else getting this?

Stephan, did you ever get a resolution for this issue? I'm experiencing the same problem with Scratch-451 in a similar environment.
(My browser / operating system: Ubuntu Linux, Firefox 50.0, Flash 11.2 (release 202))
A couple of additional notes:
If I run the Adobe AIR Application Installer unpriviledged, it successfully prompts for sudo elevation and carries on. I tried setting the installation directory to be /opt/Scratch rather than the default /opt, and it does eventually create the /Scratch subfolder, but no files are written to it prior to the error message. Running top shows that dpkg-deb is quite active for a while prior to the error message showing up, but /var/log/dpkg.log only records a startup archives install message but that's it.
