Edit comment before 30 seconds

On the forums, if you need to change something, you can.
However, with comments, you can't.
Now, I know that this is to lower spam/cyber-bullying.
Soo… to solve this problem and continue to prevent mean-ness, what if you could only edit before 30 seconds. This wouldn't give anyone enough time to really see it, so if it was mean and someone realized they made a mistake, they could fix it.
Please say “Grapefruit” in your post so I know you read this.
Tell me what you think, I know it's probably not a good suggestion but I want to hear what everyone's thoughts were.
Also, in support of the ending of the support convention, I will not be listing/counting supports. Any claim without reasoning will be ignored.
Also, I know this is rejected, but I feel like this is something that nobody's actually thought about yet. Sorry if this is what they were referring to.

Edits:
1) Comment won't be view-able for the 30 second allotted time slot. After the editable period, the whole community will be able to see your comment.
2) The Scratch Team will be able to view your revision history. If they find that your are abusing your privilege, you will not be able to edit comments for a period of time.

I can see the ethical concerns people would have with this suggestion since it's piled in with deleting comments in general and most rebuttals there carry over here, but this is a pretty good compromise in my opinion. From personal experience, fifteen seconds is a long enough time-frame to realize what's wrong with the comment and to delete it (and if it's too late, well, what can you do?). Though I have pretty uncertain thoughts about this idea going through, it costs nothing to lend my support.

The ethical concerns can be mitigated: The Scratch server just needs to delay sending comments by the 15 second grace period

I think people could use it for the wrong reason, say they were angry they could go onto someones project and start swearing and then delete what they commented.

Support. This would be very useful if you make a spelling mistake or post the same thing twice due to lag.

What you delete is never deleted.
Someone can find it.
Same goes with the forums- why not spam and edit it later?

I like this idea (maybe not display the comment to others until 15 seconds has past/the user has reloaded the page) but I think Scratch should encourage the concept of “you can't unring a bell”

Support. This would be great for when I need to edit my comments when I post them with a few grammatical errors.

I've seen sites with many feature like this one, but they have 30 seconds.
15 is absolutely nothing and would lead to people pondering/reading their comment only to find that their limit is up.

I'm for a 30-second version

Think before you act.
Actions speek louder than words.

That was my original idea, but I wasn't sure if that was too long or not.

If you agree with this, say “I”.
There will be a 24 hour time slot for this.

I…agree with this. 30 seconds sounds like a fair enough time-frame.

I was going to suggest something like 20-25 but I thought it might be a tad long.

Okay, 24 hours is up. With an all around approval, the time will be raised to 30 secs.
