Why is scratch so slow?

The website is so slow and unresponsive. I have a powerful computer. It can run anything pretty good. But the editor is just super slow and unresponsive same with the rest of the website. I use google chrome and stuff. I use windows 10.

Google Chrome is pretty much the worst possible way to use Scratch. I'd recommend a different browser.

Source: I use Scratch on my Macbook Air with Safari and it runs at usually above average speeds

Scratch has been a bit dodgy recently, at least for me, either something's going on with the servers or the ST is working on behind the scenes that's making the servers go a little weird.

Is it always slow and unresponsive or just recently?

I use Google Chrome and it's usually perfectly fine. I used to use Safari — I prefer Chrome so I switched — and the two seem to be identical in terms of how well the website works. It's mainly the computer and the network connection, not the browser, although it can affect it in some cases.

IIRC there used to be a different version of the flash plugin before they switched to the same one that Chrome uses (it uses the NPAPI version,,, i think?). But anyways, the PPAPI or whatever version ran faster.

Chrome uses Pepperflash which is PPAPI. The tutorials that started to appear where on how to switch to NPAPI. They no longer work, as NPAPI support has been completely removed from Chrome.

That's why.
Why would that be a problem? I've had it for about a year now and —other than that it changed my display driver when I first got it (got it fixed pretty easily)— it has worked much better than Win8/8.1 for me.

I have Windows 10, and scratch runs perfectly for me.

Maybe it's problem with your Flash Player, check if your flash player is up to date.

I second this. Scratch works just fine, I think you should check everything on your end.

Check your memory, and today there was for 5 minutes a server outbreak. My answer could be because of the recent hurricane that happens every 6 years, that may be the problem to the recent server problem.

I have the same problem. I made a list with what, 170,000 things in it and my PC couldn't save it.

ok, well scratch is making me odd & algodoo is blocking it. I am starting to think that I should quit scratch & start algodoo.

But the worst is that
everytime when I get a costume on a sprite it puts 143 copies instead of 1. and I can't script really. Like I can do this now I cant because scratch is not working:

Scratch is very interactive, so you need a solid fast internet connection. The Scratch servers often have problems, but during time periods when they are working normally, my 30mbps internet connection runs Scratch very fast and I use Internet Explorer for a browser.

This sounds like a bug you should report in Bugs and Glitches - this thread is old and unrelated. Thanks!
