I want to have the block palette have icons in Scratch 3:
For example: The motion icon will have ‘Motion’ and a guy running. Sensing will have the text and a hand.

What's the advantage of this over the labels and color coding?

It would look cool. What's the advantage of this over the labels and color coding?
Sigton
Support, it would make the editor look better.

Indifferent. I think the colour coding is fine, plus the ST has other things to work on (like Scratch 3.0.)

I disagree with that it will look better, one of my favourite things about the editor is the simplistic design and adding icons for each tab would make it look a lot more crowded and complicated. Personally I don't think this will fit with the graphical design of Scratch.

Yeah, honestly this just sounds like it'd look cluttered and destroy part of scratch's aesthetic (the simplicity)

In my opinion the color coding is fine. Extra icons would make it cluttered, which I don't want, especially on a tiny 1366 x 768 laptop like mine.

I actually am in favor of this idea. Current ISO standards use set symbols instead of Americanized symbols using words and different pictures for the same thing. Doing this idea helps encourage use for people who don't speak English (as translation is somewhat an issue), and most kids may be somewhat illiterate. Pictures are pretty easy to remember and recognize.

What about if you can turn off the icons? I actually am in favor of this idea. I think that is for the Scratch Team to decide on if they are in favor of this idea. What about if you can turn off the icons? I actually am in favor of this idea. Maybe have only icons for mobile devices (since Scratch 3.0 is using the HTML5 player) so that there's more room to drag blocks around?

OK, but i think it's good to have the icons on by default, and can be turned off, mobile or not (It is a good idea to have icons so that mobiles will have bigger touch) Maybe have only icons for mobile devices (since Scratch 3.0 is using the HTML5 player) so that there's more room to drag blocks around?

If kids are illiterate then how would they read the text on the blocks? I actually am in favor of this idea. Well in that case, it still helps when people don't speak english.

You forgot? Kids that are illiterate can use the horizontal way of programming in scratch 3 because that uses icons. By the way, this idea is meant to be in S3If kids are illiterate then how would they read the text on the blocks? I actually am in favor of this idea. It would actually look better in Scratch 2.0 not 3.0, and I don't like Scratch 3.0's design. It looks like Windows 8.You forgot?
