Arcade Style 8 bit Space Shooter

Space Pixel Hero :

https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/119857470/

There are 3 different ships each with 4 different versions, 17 unique enemies, 5 levels, and a final boss. I've beaten the game with each ship but it isn't an easy game. Good luck! If you love old school 8 bit side scrollers hopefully you will enjoy this game.

I threw this together for a class yesterday. I'm new to scratch and a horrible artist. I was interested in learning the strengths and limitations of the scratch IDE. I'm finding that my code started to get really messy towards the end. Without inheritance I had to reuse the same code over and over again for my enemies. Also the same sprites were using the same global variables since you cannot pass arguments. If there is a better way let me know.

I'm actually teaching a high school class introducing students to computer science principles. We are doing a scratch project for the first few weeks to teach algorithms and agile software development. I'm doing my best to learn scratch so that I can be better and then help them be better. Any feedback helps!

The game is also filled with old school video game style music too.

@Scratcher: It looks like you are off to a good start. I would add a delay between waves of fruit.

Changed a few animations and improved balance. The gun ship and laser ship are now stronger. Also, the laser wave increases in size as it moves across the screen.

And by the way, I don't know why you said I am off to a good start, for I have been on here for more then a year, and have over 200 Projects.

You should try not to make to many projects or scratch will be slow for you D: It is slow for me D:
