MAP
A MAP is a Multi Animator/Artist Project. One person takes a piece of audio, usually a song, and cuts it into parts, then shares a project with those parts. Other people ask for those parts, and then they animate something to go with that little piece of music. When everyone is finish, the host backpacks all the parts and puts them together, to make one big animation.

AMV
AMV stands for Animated Music Video. Some people create AMVs by themselves, and often MAP hosts will have a rule saying “AMV only, please,” which means people in the MAP have to animate.

PMV
A PMV is a Picture Music Video. It's the same as an AMV, except instead of animating, you just have lots of pictures, sort of like a slide show. If a MAP says “PMV only” in the rules, anyone in that MAP has to do their part in PMV style.

Does that make sense?
