Remove the Unfollow button
Since we're on a roll here, let's remove the share button. Why feel the need to share something you worked hard on with the world? It is aesthetically unpleasing, the button is way too big. It also takes away from the whole point of scratch. You should really just be caring about followers, and drama, and fame, and making sure to keep up with your friends! I fail to see the idea of the share button.

Remove the Unfollow button
(Yay I'm back
)
Anyways, no support, sorry. What if you accidentally followed a user? Or what if that user spammed up your “What's Happening” section? Maybe instead, there should be a confirmation, like on Instagram. When a user would click on the “unfollow” button, a pop up would say “Are you sure you want to unfollow <username>?” With a yes/no option below.

Remove the Unfollow button
Well, with that kind of logic, we might as well remove the entire website!Yes, me too. Followers are an unnecessary part of scratch, and cause too much drama.Okay then, let's remove followers. I'm actually willing to do that. Then why do we have it? The unfollow button is helpful if you have somebody spamming your activity and if you are just plain not interested in their projects anymore. Plus, if somebody quits Scratch because they aren't getting followers, then it's their fault. Followers aren't the point of Scratch

Remove the Unfollow button
(removed by moderator - please don't name specific Scratchers) used to be a Scratcher. And due to the shortage of followers, he quit Scratch! So this discussion is to stop that nonsense and DELETE THAT UNFOLLOW BUTTON!No one notices if someone unfollows them unless they keep count every day. I do not think you should remove the unfollow button because if someone you are following disrespects you unfollowing them is the first way to separate them from your profile. And if you don't like f4f, but you do it anyway, you can unfollow them if you don't like their projects. The unfollow button is a bit like saying, ‘I don’t like you/your projects that much'. People might be proud to get 10, 20, 50, 100, 150 or 500 followers and and then they go on holiday. When they come back you might have lost a few followers for your shortage of activity. “Oh man! I've lost my record of 30 followers!!” Then people will decrease the Scratch community like my friend here.

We should not remove followers due to the fact that is the only easy way for you show your appreciation and keep up with all of your projects.Okay then, let's remove followers. Remove the Unfollow button
I do not support this suggestion because of the reasons provided above.
1. If you accidentally follow somebody, you should be able to unfollow them.
2. If you change your mind on a follow (because you do not like their recent projects), you should be able to unfollow them as well. Please read three for the main reason why.
3. Follows are not supposed to be achievements; more like support. Also, the main purpose of a follow is for the person following to receive updates on the person who their following, similar to the subscribing system on YouTube. You like someone's video, so you subscribe to be notified when they see more. Not saying that followers are not supporters, as they are, but that's not the entire point of followers.
Note to #3: This is also the reason why they changed the “Followers (123)” part of a profile to “Followers”.
Thanks for reading,
Austinato
Edit: Most of #2 is repeated in #3.

How could you know? The thing is why should you? No support.
How about when you're starting to hate someone who you earlier liked?
This doesn't make any sense since if I'm going to follow someone I should be able to unfollow? It's not like we can see to the future.

Absolutely no support. You shouldn't decide whether to quit or not based on the number of your followers. And I doubt anyone would unfollow someone just for not posting any new projects. I haven't posted a project in around a year and haven't posted a good project in like 2-3 years but my follower count isn't decreasing.

I don't support. There is really nothing I can add on to this, as everything has been said already. However, I believe that followers are not something that's meant to make a user feel happy. Instead, the person who follows them should feel happy, as they'd be the ones who actually gain the benefit: Being able to get notified on all of your recent activity.
—
TL;DR: No support, but we gain no benefit from being followed and instead the followers gain the benefit so your friend shouldn't be upset about a number.

The follow button will become a permanent trap. Once you follow, you can't unfollow. If you change your mind, you can't. If someone popular starts spamming their What I'm Working On, the “What's Happening?” section on the main page will be useless for lots of people.
Nobody will follow anyone if this is implemented.

Woah, never! What if you have been following someone who actually puts effort into their animations and you like them, then one day scratch removes followers and you cannot find his/her projects that you liked? That would stink. Tell me you are being sarcastic. If you want to she projects from grifpatch or someone else who makes 3D engines and you can't, you would be heartbroken!Yes, me too. NO suppourt, for remoavl of follows and what is shown above. You can see it in the Scratch motto: Imagine, Program, Since we're on a roll here, let's remove the share button. Without sharing or follows, you've already taken away a third of Scratch.
