Remove the Unfollow button
If we're getting rid of the unfollow button, then lets get rid of the follow button, too!
Just kidding.
No support. As you get older, your interests change and you get better. Other Scratchers might make the same level projects. While you're getting curated, they only have a project called “Scratch Cat Dances!!!”. You're not going to want to follow them, are you? (Not that there's anything wrong with that project)
Also, some Scratchers might start making more simple projects. Or change from animations to music. If you don't like their new style, you shouldn't have to follow them.
Scratch isn't about popularity. Life isn't about popularity. I'm sorry your friend quit, but it's not the biggest thing in the world. Just keep on Scratchin! Maybe someday he'll come back!

For me this just doesn't make sense. The point of the follow button is NOT for popularity, but to express interest in another person's projects. If the user doesn't seem to be interested in another persons projects anymore, they should be able to unfollow since they are moving on.
Your reasons stated isn't sufficient. Scratch shouldn't be the only place you rely on for support. So if another person unfollows you, would it be such a big deal to one person? Sure, it could be disrespectful, but it should not be to the point where that person would pout about it for a long time or hold a grudge. Then again, that person would be taking Scratch way too seriously.
Sorry, but I can't support.

oh wow your virtual number dropped how could this happen
No support. If I get a follow button, I would like to be able to unfollow as well. What if I accidentally follow someone? I don't support removing follows either, as there would be no one to see I've posted a new project, and leave feedback for how it could've improved.
Also, Scratch isn't about following. It's about having fun, and followers are a minor addition. If you treat Scratch like a follower contest, you can leave if you realize that you have to work for them.

^ I agree with this. No support. Scratch isn't about getting followers, it's about being creative.
Plus, what if I accidently follow someone, or I follow someone, look at their projects, and decide I want to unfollow?

No support, for 2 reasons,
1: What if someone has loads of activity and clogs up my what's happening section?
2:What if I'm not interested in someone any more?

What if you followed someone by accident? Or you followed someone because they had good projects or personality but they suddenly changed?

And what if you changed your mind?

I have an idea, let's just get rid of the followers list and notification anyway. There's no good reason for you to need to know how many followers you have, or which ones.

let's also remove the unshare button too!
bc if you were going to unshare your project, why would you bother sharing it the first place?
[/s]
im not sure if thats a good reason to remove such features. sorry, but if you have the right to follow someone, you should also have the right to undo that action. otherwise the scratchers you follow would always stack up. at that point would you really be willing to follow so many people?

ok, so you've read everybody elses arguments, but heres mine.
what if you followed somebody, like me persay. “ooh, i like this persons projects.” you think
a week later i (theoretically) make a project that says “EVERYBODY WHO LIKES (insert topic) IS DUMB” (not my actual opinion btw)
you happen to like that topic, that hurts! you no longer like this person! BUT THERE IS NO UNFOLLOW BUTTON (dun dun duuuuuun)
or something along those lines. That would be… unsatisfactory.
(also, its like friends on facebook, sometimes you just dont look at their feed enough and dont want messages from them spamming yours so you unfriend them)

Uh, no.
You shouldn't worry too much about a number that won't affect you irl.
What if you followed someone several years ago and they quit? What if you wanted to unfollow all those random accounts you followed because of the name? What if you got into a fight and now despise each other? What if you followed someone by accident, and oops- there's no way to undo it! And a few more other realistic circumstances listed above…
Followers are only for updates from the Scratcher they're following, nothing more. It doesn't matter if you have 1 follower, 100 followers, or 1000 followers. Yeah, you can celebrate follower milestones, but don't quit just because you lose a few. This sounds cheesy, but as long as Scratch makes you happy, keep Scratching.

No support, following and unfollowing are completely up to the user's discretion.
Y'know what, let's prohibit *something that hurts my feelings*

Yes, me too. Followers are an unnecessary part of scratch, and cause too much drama.Okay then, let's remove followers. I'm actually willing to do that. Then why do we have it? The unfollow button is helpful if you have somebody spamming your activity and if you are just plain not interested in their projects anymore. Plus, if somebody quits Scratch because they aren't getting followers, then it's their fault. Followers aren't the point of Scratch
