To be honest, cloud data is wrecked.
That may be because they tried to fix it and/or added something.You know, they worked 2+ years on this, and 10% of the users gives negative views on 2.0. Remember this is the beta. Also, Cloud Data is not working cause ST is fixing bugs.It's not as easy as you may think. I think even the best programmers on Scratch would need help
It worked better, though, in the earlier alpha.

To be honest, cloud data is wrecked.
This is what I am thinking:
~~~~
Scratchers: I want cloud variables, please hurry up and enable them!
…
Scratch Team: *Enables cloud variables that can currently only store integers, no cloud lists, and limit of 10 cloud variables*
Scratchers: *Tries out cloud variables*
Scratchers: This is stupid… I want cloud variables to store strings. I want cloud lists. I want more cloud variables.
~~~~
I don't understand everyone's problems. It's not like cloud data will be like this forever. It is only to help the Scratch Team fix bugs in the cloud data. If you really want strings in cloud variables, you could use some method of encrypting the string. If you want cloud lists, you could store the list like this: “list item 1;list item 2; list item 3;etc”, encrypted in a cloud variable. I don't know what you could do to get around the 10 variable limit, but is it really that hard to do?

I agree with the first part. The ST wasn't even planning to open this if Scratchers never This is what I am thinking:forced them.

That's probably because there were less people (less than 200 I think?) and also, everyone in the early alpha could be trusted (curators, SDS curators, TBG mods, etc.) that they wouldn't abuse Scratch and cloud variables.You know, they worked 2+ years on this, and 10% of the users gives negative views on 2.0. You obviously know nothing about devolopment
I'd like to see you make a better cloud variable system

I made a clever little project that uses cloud variables, and none of these complaints save live uploading hurt it.
Okay, fine, the lack of live upload is kinda killing it. Still, http://beta.scratch.mit.edu/projects/10090861

Maybe in the early alpha. I've never been a mod.-anything, yet I was still in the (late) alpha but they still had cloud lists….

1. i very much agree that yours are easier.Hey! Mine are actually fairly easy to use. The only downside is it takes about half a second to get the value in which you can't use the project and that there are no lists unless you formulate a workaround with the explode/split block. I would rather use Insanity's cloud variables, even though they are harder to use and… ARRRGGHHHH!
2. yours sadly don't update

Hmm, this thread is way old, and lots has changed. Feel free to start a new thread with feedback on cloud variables!
