Yeah, that might be easy. For neurotypical people.
I'm neurotypical and it's still not easy to overcome grudges that I have against people on Scratch. I have a few, including people (not you) who like to fix their problems by blaming them away on some majority demographic.

Instead of blaming those people, what do I do? I contact them to work it out on their profiles.

Stop using the fact that you're neurodivergent or something to excuse your hatred.

Then you're just making it hard for yourself. I understand that people have been mean to you, and it's hard to forgive them, but remember that it's actually a person behind this user, not some robot whose sole purpose is to harass everyone. At this point, these users see the mistakes they've made. If they don't they're probably banned. If you talk to them again, they're not going to be mean anymore.

I'm not telling you to stop being mentally ill, I'm telling you to stop using the fact that you are to excuse your blatant hatred for people that offend you.

Nothing is ever guaranteed to work. If someone offends you in real life, do you want to ahide them from your sight forever, or would you rather naturally overcome your problems? The problem still hangs over you and it's still a problem, at least for me.

Hatred is not the solution to anything. Scratch is a place for preparing young people to face world problems, and wishing someone away doesn't solve anything.

The first option.

Experience has shown that I cannot do the latter.

we're not hating. we're just not forgiving them because we have a reason to
some of us have scratch-related trauma ?? victims of abuse are not required to forgive their abusers

If being neurodivergent means that you have a free pass to hate random people without trying to remedy or act on these feelings at all, then you have a problem.

if being neurotypical means that you can disprove other people's experiences because you've had a different experience, then you have a problem.

Hating is different than being unable to forget bad experiences.

And yes, thank you for reminding me that I have problems, but I'm very aware of that.

So that's it? That's what you'd be happy with? If you want to wish away your problems, they're still there. The people who create the problem still exist and they still create a problem for other people. It would be much more beneficial to work it out, possibly with the Scratch Team's intervention.

I just don't want that to happen to anyone.

I don't think I'm going to get anything done here, so I'm unfollowing this topic. Just have your hate and I'll go. Just don't spread it to other people, please.

Don't forgive them. Punish them. Punish them for their crimes. And I know just the guy for the job.

It seems that people have completely ignored this, so…

PrincelyTights wrote:

okay so, i've been talking to rachyl over skype about this and i wholeheartedly agree with them. as someone who's been harassed multiple times by several scratchers, i think a block option would be extremely effective.

one example is that i've been harassed by a user in a ST member's profile and they refused to stop even when i asked them multiple times, and reported them, saying that they had to had the last reply for their dignity. i've literally had a breakdown because of it and they wouldn't stop when i asked over 3 times and reported them

The reason why we want a blocking users suggestion is because we've actually had scratchers harass us multiple times, or have to see people that are disgusting (like anti x group people) but whatever they've done isn't bad enough for a ban or whatever. we just dont want them interacting with us and we dont want to interact with them for our own safety.

just because someone gets reported doesn't mean that they'll stop their behavior or stop talking to you. we just don't want whatever people that have been mean/we're uncomfortable interacting with to interact with our projects or comments. it shouldn't mean that they can't see our projects or comments.

What bird is trying to say I think is that being neurodivergent doesn't excuse you for hating people, and it doesn't mean you can avoid reconciling with people like the rest of us do.

Because if such a block button existed, the only reason you'd ever use it is if you hate somebody.

And guess what? Scratch isn't about hate.

Again, if a user's being mean to you, please report them. If a user is no longer being mean to you, there's no point in continuing your hate.

we're not, saying that we hate any of those people. we're just saying that we do not want to interact with them again because of past experiences. that isn't hating them.
