The Oregon Trail is appropriate?

So, I'm making an Oregon Trail game in Scratch, and in the game I'm remaking, (and most Oregon Trail games to my knowledge) you can hunt deer and bear and elk, etc. for food (with bullets), because you and your party members have to stay alive. So I was wondering if I should implement that, or something a little more family-friendly.

Something like that probably wouldn't be entirely appropriate for Scratch. Maybe consider toning it down a bit.

Tone it down a bit. Remove blood and anything you can do to restrict gun violence.
Dangit, 120 second rule. Why am I sending this from here again?

From what I can tell, in the game I'm remaking, there isn't much blood (any at all?). The two most violent scenes in the game are: Death of a party member (and that's literally just crying and mourning, no blood to be seen) and the death of an animal (when you're hunting, no blood to be seen).

The Oregon Trail has very little to do with gun violence. The gun aspect is just about you needing to hunt to eat (since the game is about a person/people going across the Oregon Trail to the US by wagon) - it's a lot like attacking animals in Minecraft.

I see that as okay, Grand Thef Auto and Shadow the Hedgehog is much worser. Btw, it's a historical game, how could we teach children World War II if we didn't describe the weapons and number of deaths?

I agree.

The original game was created by teachers with the intent of being an educational game, so by that standard I agree it would be approved for Scratch if you have the intent of education.

GTA isn't allowed for Scratch though. Your argument would make a bit more sense if you were comparing Oregon Trail with something worse that is allowed.

undertale is worse by far it's allowed though…

The Oregon trail is likely fine, just remove everything about dysentery. (Eww!)

Undertale isn't too bad, just so long as you don't go too far.

I actually didn't intend for it to be an edutainment game. Was just gonna clone it basically, might add a few extra features along the way..

I don't think there is any blood or anything in the original game, so it should be fine.

You may want to consider just making the animals disappear without the dying animation, but I wouldn't think it's all that necessary.

I don't think the animals “die die”, they don't even disappear, there's just a message that says that an ox died.

Really? In the version that I used to play, the animals actually died.

OH.. I thought you meant the oxen fell down. Yeah, in the version I plan on cloning they die, but they basically just fall down.
