The movie should definitely star Steve (the player) however, if Ash were to be in the movie, he could travel along with Steve. However because we don't know how Ash's journey will end up, (regarding Serena) and Ash would not simply stop on his journey through Kalos. to go to Lados. So, to bring Ash into Lados, we could use Palkia, if we were to include him in the movie, but I simply don't think ash should be in the movie.

Anyway, I vote Player, but Ash as a supporting character, and we later find that (Potential Spoilers ahead) Katie is the second in command of Team Octo (A potential name for the evil team) and the reason Matt can't quit the Team. Just my ideas

Yes, we should make a timeline for this or something, as we know Matt's story, we can put his actions and story in there. Also, according to my comment, Matt was always quit, but was scared of Katie, so was forced to stay in power and keep on the evil goals of the team.
