Why do ST members let "First Post" slide?

^. On the announcements I see “First Post” and all that garbage a lot. Why does ST lit it slide and spam up the announcements?
I'm playing reporter for the wiki, so if ST responds, I am going to use their answer.

I wouldn't worry about it. It's no big deal. If someone wrote 1st reply on my discussion post i'd be happy.

Well once I saw either Paddle or Lightnin reply to a “first post” post without making it seem like they were too much trouble, and like it kind of amused them.

Yeah, last summer both me and @dracae said “First post!” And I ninja'd him by 0 seconds! Lightnin had a good laugh and said his famous line “Everybody repeat after me: stay on topic stay on topic stay on topic! XD”. Why would we bother with “first post” anyways when block spam is horrible in the announcements forum anyways.

Anyways first posting is fine especially if you write something that contributes to the announcement. Also, it's kind of a tradition, and I think the ST likes to see people excited to get to the announcement first.

Yeah, and it actually gets people to read the post (after they make their post, of course)

Yeah, so long as there is actual relevant material in the post, I might let a “First post” remark slide - it is nice to see some excitement around posting

But it does bother me when that is the sum total of the post content - that seems really spammy and leads to other spam posts - like “Second post!”, etc.

Well, technically “first post” posts are only one comment, so it's not really spam in my opinion. As long as people don't then say “second post”, “third post” etc.
