large number of invisible messages every time I visit the home page?

My browser / operating system: Windows 7, Chrome 51.0.2704.103, Flash 22.0 (release 0)

Every time I visit the home page of Scratch, it tells me I have 305 unread messages, but when I check, they aren't there :c

I have a similar problem, just with only one message.

I have the exact same problem, with 3 messages instead of 306.

I am also having this problem; it must be affecting a large number of users. I hope the ST gets around to fixing it soon.

Same exact problem with 7 messages. Potentially we're being shown somebody else's message count by mistake? Which would explain why it was so seemingly random. Happens on all other new UI pages, so presumably it's a bug in the new UI.
