EDIT 2/5/2017: Wow, this is one of the first forum posts I ever made on the Scratch website, after about 1 week of having my account. I remember when I started out, I was interested in making forms of “tycoon” games (in other words, games that involve monopolizing a certain industry). Later on, I realized you could use Scratch to make “animations”, and I realized after that that I had a much stronger passion for animating, and probably wouldn't have gotten into animating and be so interested in it if wasn't for Scratch. So, I'd like to say 2 things to close this all up. Number 1, thank you Scratch for being an inspiration for me in animating and computer programming, two things I would be clueless about if I didn't join some 8 months ago. And number 2, since I no longer need help in making tycoon games, I will be asking for this topic to be stickied. I'm sorry, it's just no longer an interest to me (but I still like playing them lol). If you'd like to see some of my shared projects, head over to here for a full list. I don't have a set uploading schedule, so they'll just be released when they are finished. I've been on Scratch for about less then a week, and I don't know a lot. I have been on another coding site before (about a year ago), that's supposed to TEACH you step-by-step how to code, but I never got passed lesson 20; so I only know basics. I'm hoping to find the skills to make a tycoon game (they've always been my favorite kind of game), so if you can help, please do.

Scratch also has some tutorials…bit they seem not to focus on specific skills (which seems to be your style)…
