I wanted to make a virus to get even with this person in my class. He hacked my YouTube account. I then thought about making a virus that deletes files, then brings up an error that says “TROGDOR HAS BURNINATED YOUR COMPUTER.” He said that he'd sue me, though, and he doesn't have a computer. (He does have an iPad, though.)
If he sues you then sue him back. :3

And iPads CAN get viruses. It just takes more work. :3
His iPad isn't jailbroken as far as I know, so it can't get viruses.

I didn't even know iPads could get viruses -_-

Once I got the fake FBI scam virus on windows vista.
My parents somehow deleted it by going into Safe Mode.

Then they said "You know what? McAfee is not protecting our computer.
1 hour later, then uninstalled McAfee and replaced it with Norton 360
why not malwarebytes
my mom had mcafee and i deleted it and downloaded malwarebytes

also all you have to do to delete the fbi moneypack virus is go to task manager and end the process then delete the files in the windows directory while in safe mode

except for the advanced ones that encrypt the files

they're harder
no i have norton it is good
no it is bad.

Seriously though, Norton does not pick up any virus.
i have it its good
and my brother has mcafee

That's also pretty eh. McAfee isn't that good of an antivirus and probably some bloatware your computer came preinstalled with.

Protip: reinstall your operating system when you get your computer. All but the most modern versions of Windows will ignore whatever garbage your computer was preinstalled with.
Why?

While not a virus, it falls under this topic. The family computer really needs an update, Win7 reinstalled or replace its OS with Ubuntu because it is so buggy. We have McAfee (used to have Malwarebytes, too), and on certain sites- generally ones * advertising, like Yahoo- McAfee ALWAYS pops up saying it blocked content that was “blocked by parental settings” or something or other. It is a PAIN because it generally won't go away until you go to a different site; guaranteed if you try closing the message window it will pop back up within a couple of seconds.

Unfortunately, Norton is slow, bloated, and did not protect me a while ago when a rather common ransomware application infected my Windows computer.
It also turns into a virus if your time expires.
That's different… what a second….

Oh no my friend's computer has Norton too! Now I have to go and make sure they got rid of it in time! D=

Why?

At least on Windows 7, reinstalling gets rid of all the hard to remove *expletive*-ware that normally won't budge.

Windows 8 and 10, I dunno. I hear they have some way of restoring the -ware on reinstalls.

Or you can go the penguin way…</shamelesslinuxpromotion>

So I upgraded to windows 10 and I don't have to worry about getting a new AV: MSE upgraded to Windows Defender.

Windows Defender is Microsoft Security Essentials, just with a different name.

Again, Yahoo! is safe, but if Mackeeper is changing it to a fake version then try to look up how to remove Mackeeper.

Put Mackeeper in the trash, remove other stuff, then empty trash. And switch back to google.

MacKeeper might leave stuff in other places.

Reverse/delete the other stuff, too
