A mary sue is basically anypony who doesn't fit in canon. alicorns can't be born, so therefore unless there's a good reason for it, alicorns are mary sues because they can't be born. queen elizabeth was born into the royal family, while in MLP it's very rare. also, being autistic isn't a mary-sue trait because it can happen in canon, there's nothing stopping it.

It just seems like there isn't much to explain
also i've seen some good oc designs that have bad backstories that have luna as their mother and discord as the father and are a hidden element of harmony and have a tragic past, and it's a shame those good designs are wasted on terrible backstories. I've also seen the opposite, which is a terrible design with a great backstory, and that isn't as common but it still happens.

Her name is Stormy Cirrus, a pony known for working with clouds.

A bit of backstory:
As a young filly born to a family of mostly Pegasi, Stormy would watch her brother, sister, and cousin fly, and always wished she could have done it with them. Her siblings tried to make her feel better, but unsuccessfully. being the standout of the family, stormy also had a lack of ability. while her fellow pegasi were flying at her young age, she couldn't use magic at all. Even later in life, she could never find anything that she was good at, and remained a blankflank until her late teens..
*TIME SKIP AHEAD TO LATE TEENS*
As a late teen, her brother, (sparky shine) sister, (Rosy sunset,) and cousin (Snowy frost) had all gotten jobs at the weather factory. Sparky was in charge of creating lightning to put in clouds, becoming revered for his speed and precision in the business. Rosy was also very popular, but for a different reason: she was known to be the kindest of all the employees, always offering support and joy to those in need. And her cousin Snowy wasn't popular, but made up for that in rank. He was nicknamed the dictator, and was put in charge of the snow sector of the factory. he barked orders, and quickly gained a feared and respected position. And in the midst of all of her family becoming incredibly successful in the weather business, poor Stormy was lost. Nopony seemed to know where she belonged. And then she got an idea.
What if she was the first unicorn to work in the thunder business?
And so, she asked sparky. being the supportive brother that he was, he took her to cloudsdale with the cloudwalking spell to teach her the trade. however, with her non-detail oriented mind and focus on the larger picture, she was sloppy at the job and failed to uphold her brother's standards, even with her unicorn magic. By now, some family members thought she should give up. After all, a unicorn had never been in the weather business before. However, there were still some supporters, and among those was her sister, Rosy sunset. In hope for her sibling, rosy took stormy up once again to learn her craft, making sure the sunset is clear. She wasn't too bad at this, but she was miserable with it, having long work hours. With 2 fails on her record, even some of her former supporters gave in. If 2 weather jobs hadn't worked, then it was kind of hopeless for a third, right? Stormy was still determined. Even though her cousin hated the idea that a unicorn could work in the weather factory, rosy managed to convince him to give stormy a chance. And so, she was assigned co-leader of the snow sector.
It didn't work. although she was good at giving orders, she wasn't really good at anything else. Some snickered behind her back, while others were more upfront. Stormy's supporters were few now, and her family tried to convince her she was not meant to be for the weather business. But the young unicorn had her heart set on it, and swore she would never give up..

Rainbow Dash's name was originally Pink Lemonade
and Pinkie Pie was Rosy Flower.
Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash were bffs
at birth, and RD's hair was pink. Their parents
did not have a pegasus or earth pony in their
family (The family was unicorns) and so the
family didn't like the two and sent them to nursery
adoption. When Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie
were 3, they were both adopted by a new family.
The families knew each other but each one of them
wanted either foal, so they took the foals and the
two families pretended they never met each other.
Pink Lemonade had her hair dyed rainbow so that
she fits in with with her new family and was renamed
Rainbow Dash, and Rosy Flower was renamed Pinkie
Pie. Then RD's family had to move and the two families
eventually forgot about each other.
