Hide "remixes" tab

This may be considered as obscuring the problem instead of dealing with it, but…

Some people remix complete copies of projects for the sake of attention. However, like hiding follower counts, it would be better if the remix tab/tree was hidden, taking away the “LOOK AT ME” incentive to remix meaninglessly. It would also remove a lot of annoyances from Scratchers who look at the remix tab and see tons of invalid remixes.

Yes, it will help copying reixes get less attention, but them they also won't get reported. And yes, this buries the problem. Not deal with it.

No support. Like you said, this is just burying the problem rather than solving it. It also takes attention away from legitimate remixes. And it doesn't solve the problem completely. There are still plenty of other places that the remix can be displayed, such as a profile page.

when you remix a project how do you get rid of the part when it says thanks to blah blah blah for the original project?

You can't, that's the entire point of remixing a project

You also can't double-post.

You can't. It was added so you have to give credit to the person who made the project.

No support. What if people aren't remixing to get noticed/get clout and genuinely remixed just for fun/to add something/so they can mod it, and you still hide it? That would be kinda cruel if you ask me.

Practically, a lot of remixes I see don't change much from the original and are either attempts to “get the first remix” for fun, or random remixes that do nothing.
A very good, constructive remix of a popular game can actually be seen here, in order to undermine my argument.
That's not to say I necessarily support or no support, but that's how I view things.
(Also watch as someone swoops in and totally debunks this whole post.. )

You can't think that everyone is like that. “random remixes that do nothing” that's rude. People can remix what they want. If someone is a new scratcher and doesn't know the systems yet and remix a project into something that… isn't necessarily “good” and post it, you would count that as a “useless remix”. What if the remixer liked it? Then you would be Loki bullying them.

No support, what if I want to look at MAP parts?
I would have to hope the host wrote down all the usernames correctly, then click the links (dear god if they can't @ people I'll have to go on my profile), search their projects (goodness let it please be a newish MAP).

Also would it be an toggleable option?

Can't abusive remixes be reported? “Not changing anything” is something you can report a remix for. I'm not sure about remixes made for the sole purpose of taking up the first spot though, we'll have to ask a Scratch Team member for that. I don't support for now, as everyone else said there are better solutions.

Why? Isn’t the whole purpose of scratch is to share new ideas?

I was thinking this suggestion would be implemented where there's a button that says “expand” or “collapse” that expands or collapses the remix tab; that sounds like the only practical way to implement this for me. But even so, I don't support for reasons already mentioned.

It would be an exact copy, which is not allowed, though
