Prevent Advertising In Projects

I'm sure this issue has been addressed before, but I'm going to bring it up again. Many featured/curated projects have disabled comments due to an excess in advertising. This is seriously annoying to those who wish to share their thoughts. I believe a feature similar to disabling comments, which just prevented comments with links in them from being posted on a project would help tremendously. In the meantime, we should just report any unwanted advertisements on our projects.

EDIT: Because I see this conversation is still going on and it has been quite unclear: This would be OFF BY DEFAULT. If someone wants to show the project creator something, they can quite easily give them the link on the project, or at their profile. The project creator would have to act to disable comments with links in them, and would only do so if he/she got annoyed by the amount of spam in his/her project's comment section.

EDIT 2: Since I see this discussion is still active, I'd like to clarify a few points:
1. There's no way to fully prevent spam while allowing discussions, however this would vastly reduce it.
2. This feature might also give someone typing a comment a small notification letting them know that the creator of the project has disabled links, and that discussing your project(s) in that specific project's comments section is unadvised.

EDIT 3: The grammar in this post is horrible, but I wrote it 4 years ago so I'm not going to bother fixing it. Someone necro-posted, so if you're seeing this post, that's why.

Eh, semi-support, because people can still say “CHECK OUT MY FEATURED PROJECT” or “VIEW MY PROJECTS PLZZZZZZZZ”

Those comments can be easily reported. Also, the odds of someone actually going to a person's profile and checking out their projects because they said that are much lower than people posting links to their projects.

No support, what if someone wants to show the owner a project for them?

Semi-support, because people may need to post links to other sites rather than Scratch. And

The option would be off by default, and if advertising became a problem in a project, the person who made it could turn it on. Also, links to other websites never work anyway.

True, but if the main purpose of your suggestion is to let people share their thoughts more effectively, then people can still just advertise without giving a link and it would be equally annoying to the project owner.

No support, because some people (including me), like other people advertising. It makes us discover new projects.

You should visit the “Show and Tell” section of the forums. It's a place for people to talk about their projects, and by the sounds of it, you'd love it!

reporting it takes like 2 seconds.

Sometimes, you need links too for various reasons

And it requires a member of the ST to review each individual case of advertising, which isn't feasible.

so are the others..?

this suggestion wouldn't really work that well as banning links is easy to circumvent
scratch.mit.edu/projects/105928197/
scratch(dot)mit(dot)edu/projects/105928197/
scratch. mit. edu / projects /10 59 28 19 7/
VIEW MY FEATURED PROJECT
view my project!! ID: 105928197

also banning links would just be annoying and probably confuse people. especially since some projects would ban links and others wouldn't.

the problem isn't about bots, it's about users spamming
