IP Banned Users Using Offline Editor? (2.0)

I support because what they do offline does not affect the site itself. And

I know what a ban is. I just don't see why someone's creativity flow should be stopped if they do things that don't have to do with others' creativity flows. I see an (free!) offline editor and the (free!) website associated with it as two different things. I'm sorry, ST, if you don't like offering these kinds of (free!) things to someone who you can't trust because they misbehaved on your (free!) website, but I think depriving someone of learning the basics of programming and letting their creativity flow (freely!) is a bit much.

Darn, I had a metaphor in mind, but it doesn't exactly work and I can't find a better one.

I think everybody's losing the point here. If somebody breaks rules on a site severely or repeatedly enough to get banned, ST would prefer not to provide a free service to them.

It's like at a library. They let people use the computers for free, and if people abuse their privileges, the people in charge ban them from the Internet, and I would imagine the same would go for entering the library in different cases, as well.

And if it's really thought of as ‘depriving someone from learning the basics of programming and letting their creativity flow’, they are always welcome to go onto another site and learn a language that way– Codecademy, for instance. Plus, there are always books.
Tynker is like a lesser copy of scratch. -facepalm-

Or Tynker if one is desperate.

You don't see a “Scratch 2.0 For Dummies” book out in chapters do you?
And in Code academy, there is nothing like scratch. Believe me. It's hard to switch programming languages.
My transition was pretty smooth, but then again I'm guessing I was older than you currently are when I first started, and learning styles are different…

Anyhow, my point was that there are other options for learning programming if you are IP banned and are that determined to program.

The Internet Archive has a snapshot of the Scratch Offline Editor.

A comparable online visual, drag-and-drop programming language is SNAP!

When an account is blocked, here is what happens, from the Scratch FAQ:
When an account is blocked, the owner can no longer access it, or use it to create projects or comments. When they login, they see a page that explains why the account was blocked with a web form they can use to request to be unblocked. If the owner can show that they understand why their account was blocked, and promises to follow the community guidelines in the future, the Scratch Team will review their case. Accounts will only be unblocked in cases where the account owner’s word can be trusted. Otherwise, the account (and most likely other accounts owned or created by that person) may be blocked permanently.
Those who engaged in conduct sufficient for a ban are treated fairly.

I am pretty sure that Cheddargirl had a point. Users were using a scam, spam, free website that was an offline Editor.

…If you don't support, why necro?
I support. You can't really do much harm offline.
