JumperThanks man, and yeah, game balance is hard to do for that game. When i first came out, i got “To hard!”, then i changed one thing, and then “To easy!”. )D
“Collect Gold and keep from falling! Avoid the enemies!”
Game Design 8/10
It is a very fun game, one that makes you want to keep trying till you succeed, which won't happen first try, I can guarantee that. It was a very well designed game, something we've all come to expect from CAA14!
Originality 6/10
I can't say this is the most original thing I've ever seen, but it was still good. The idea was mostly original, and it had good powerups, but I know I've seen something similar to this before. I just can't remember where…
Ease Of Use 3/5
The game was simple enough to use, but the lack of an in game tutorial took this down a bit. Sadly, not everyone thinks to look in the Instructions section for instructions…
Difficulty Balance 2/5
Well, like the description states, this game is hard. The top score is 36, which is absolutely astounding for this game. No real balance or variability, hence the lower score.
Graphics 4/5
Graphics, as per usual, scored high for quality graphics. They of course could have been a bit better, but anything could be better. Perhaps a more detailed background or a walking animation could have made this higher.
Sound 3/5
I did like the music, but it seemed a bit peaceful for how challenging the game is. Still, points for dramatic irony I suppose!
Firing Round 6/10 (This is the addition of the following scores)
Reliability 1/2
0 (Very Glitchy) 1 (A few glitches) 2 (Hardly any glitches)
Game Length 1/2
0 (Too Short) 1 (Decent Length) 2 (Long lasting or endless)
Game Pace 2/2
0 (Very slow or too long for it's own sake) 1 (Quite engrossing) 2 (Very well paced and fun)
Replay Value 1/2
0 (Would never replay/ did not want to finish it the first time) 1 (Might replay) 2 (Too good to stop!)
Programming 1/2
0 (Simple to make) 1 (Fairly advanced) 2 (It was very complex)
Overall Experience 30/50
My experience with this game was a good one, quality made, fun, and well deserving of the recognition it received. I hope your last game will be better still!
TOTAL: 62/100
Key
0-19 I could have made that in my sleep!
20-39 Needs a lot of work.
40-59 An average project I suppose.
60-79 Quite a cool project.
80-94 Wow! It only needs a bit of tweaking.
95-100 You're the top cat!
This is a pretty good rating i suppose, seeing it took me about 6 hours. It was always meant to be a mini-game anyways, meant to pass the time.

Based on this review, it would seem that if i:
- Added some mountains in the BG.
- Made the game easier.
- Added a simple how to thing.
- And made maybe a flying platform,
It would score better

CAA14

I'm sorry, I did forget to put on a couple of my other suggestions. Editing…
Edit: Done.
And yes if, you did those things which you mentioned, as well as reduce lag on replay, then it would have scored higher. Not a whole lot higher though, as overall experience would have only changed slightly, and it's the main factor of your score. In order to score higher there, it would have to be more of a full game.

The lag, as mentioned in my edit of the review, only occurs on replay. That's because you never delete the clones when you're done using them, hence they accumulate, hence lag.

Super Mario World U Demo
“None”
Game Design 3/10
This was your basic static platformer. No real innovation here, just a straightforward make it to the yellow space platformer. I can't even believe I gave this a three…
Originality 1/10
Almost no originality here, it was just another Mario game. Even Nintendo is having difficulty coming out with anything related to Mario that's original now.
Ease Of Use 1/5
There were o tutorials, and it wasn't straight forward at all. The only reason people can play it is because they've played Mario, but even that isn't very helpful here. The powerups had no in game explanation, and you have to know what they do to succeed. I don't really have much in the way of positive words for this one.
Difficulty Balance 1/5
It was either too easy, or impossible. If you died and lost your powerup, the only option was to start over. Powerups are not meant to be the only route to victory, they're meant to be an enhancement of your character to make it easier to achieve victory. The lack of a powerup is not suppoesed to make the game impossible, but that's what this has done.
Graphics 1/5
The graphics consisted of classic Mario graphics from the internet, and poorly drawn backgrounds. I know more effort could have been put into that, it looked like each on took about 2 minutes to draw.
Sound 2/5
The sound of this game was the only thing that was really okay. But it was still just the same thing over and over again, and it was only the Mario theme song.
Firing Round 1/10 (This is the addition of the following scores)
Reliability 0/2
0 (Very Glitchy) 1 (A few glitches) 2 (Hardly any glitches)
Game Length 1/2
0 (Too Short) 1 (Decent Length) 2 (Long lasting or endless)
Game Pace 0/2

Replay Value 0/2

Programming 0/2
0 (Simple to make) 1 (Fairly advanced) 2 (It was very complex)
Overall Experience 5/50
To sum it up, I did not enjoy this project. It was hopelessly glitched, it was very repetitive, and it was either too easy or impossible. Such work is not worthy of a higher score. Because of the quality of this project, I've had to make a separate section, just to put my suggestions in.
Suggestions for Improvement
You should decrease your reliance on powerups, they are detracting from the value of this game.
You should fix the player's movement, everytime I changed direction it glitched out. I couldn't jump and move at the same time, ect.
You should change the velocity and momentum scripts, as you jump too fast, and fall too slow.
You should add some originality. Maybe you could add a storyline, or even just a change of character. Either of those would be improvement.
You should add you own twist in gamelay to the platforming genre, as that's how platformers get popular.
You could improve the sounds, by adding a couple more tracks and sound effects.
You could improve the overall quality of the graphics by redrawing the backgrounds,or you could ask an artist to do it for you.
You could make it a bit more fast paced and rewarding, adding to its addictiveness.
TOTAL: 15/100
I'm sorry if that seems a bit harsh, but it's my job to make an objective (and hopefully constructive) criticism.

I've added 4 O.S. programs, and one Music program, to the I.T. gallery. The O.S.'s weren't mine, but the music shuffling program is. I also added someone else's game to the game studio.

EMERGENCY STAFF MEETING:Oaky so we need some new untraditional projects, am I right? So why not let more scratchers that have been on scratch longer join? We could get more potentially interesting projects on this thread.
Is the Scratch Cat's Hideout out of date?
With the new “Scratching Fame” getting more members than this in just a couple of days being active, I'm worried that this thread may have lost its touch. We're both trying to spread the word of unseen projects, and I fully support the other thread, however is there a way we can make our thread more attractive?
It hit me when I saw two members of this post comments with the Scratching Fame signature on each of them, that I realised how big that thread was. What would happen if everyone joined theres, and gave up on this one?
I hope that Scratching Fame has a bright future, but we also need to ensure that this thread has a bright future as well. We got 10,000 views in 3 months, and plenty of projects to advertise, and we cannot give up. Maybe the indexing system of projects has aged, and we might need a new angle to advertise things from.
Any ideas? Remember, we are NOT at war with the other thread, I just want to ensure that no one forgets about the Scratch Cat's Hideout that we've all been working hard on for 3 months to build up!
