Have two language options: American English and English!
There are too many English dialects, so why add one more (UK English) just because of a spelling difference? There's no difference in translations.
Also, no English is ‘the proper english’.
I'm not sure what time zone messages are on (certainly not PST, anyway) but it should probably be changed to UCT if it isn't already.
The original, British English is the proper English because it came first and any other ‘English’ is a variation.

Duplicate
Also, since Scratch is developed and ran in USA, the British English option should be called “British English” while American English is still called “English”.
I feel like those are a little offensive to Americans.
Well they are how we feel when Americans say American English is just ‘English’.
I also find it both offensive and hilariously funny that Americans think that American English came first and that British English is American English with a ‘u’ added in.

Um, don't you know Scratch is from the USA? Therefore, American English will stay “English” and British English will stay “British English”.

Plus - Americans don't speak English, they speak American!American isn't a language…
75% support. It's not that big of a deal, but it's just one extra language in the menu, increasing the total from 74 (yes, I counted) up to 75, but it'll also create more suggestions like this:
SCRATCH NEEDS A CANADIAN ENGLISH OPTION OH AND WE NEED AUSTRALIAN ENGLISH WE ALREADY HAVE BRITISH ENGLISH SO WHY CANT WE HAVE THESE

British English and American English are dialects - they don't really have massive differences that make it hard to understand.
No support - Scratch is also from the US anyways.
British English is not a dialect, in fact American English is a dialect of English, and British English doesn't exist seeing as it is English….
American English is English spelt differently.
a particular form of a language that is peculiar to a specific region or social group.Specific region being Britain (primarily). You also didn't address my other two points (no massive differences, and origin of this site)
Any language that is in various regions and is spoken slightly differently has different dialects. Being first does not make it more valid than the English I speak - FORTRAN is not the one true programming language

British English is as valid as saying American English. I say British English and English, and you say American English and English. It's just that what I speak, I regard as the “real” one, and any other one I distinguish by origin region.
Sorry Britain - we've massively outgrown you.

(yay debate time)

I just want to interject that British is not “the original form”. This is like saying that today's fish are our ancestors. Both American and British English have been deviating from their common ancestor — in different directions but by the same degree. And in many respects, contemporary American English is much closer to the original than contemporary British English.

Humans are good at thinking they are the center of the universe, which is probably why the Americans (I'm one of them) are saying American English should be called “ordinary English.” Why can't we just use “English (US)” and “English (UK)” (and alphabetize them so the UK one should appear above US and it is below “Español” in the list so it doesn't look like English is the best language in the word - it isn't)?

The issue is, though, how much time should be diverted from more pressing features to the “translations”?

No support. American English is just British English with the u taken out. No biggie. I really don't see why it's necessary, it's just a spelling.
I do think, however, they should fix the timezone problem, so support for that.

actually, i'm pretty sure old english existed before the united kingdom and also came from the germanic angelo-saxons, who settled in britain later on.No support, British English is just words like “color” with “u” added into them. It isn't necessary since the changes aren't that big, and besides, Scratch is developed in the USA
In fact, American English are the British words with the ‘u’ taken out of them - not added in. English originated in the UK - so we didn't add anything.

No support. American English is just British English with the u taken out. No biggie. I really don't see why it's necessary, it's just a spelling. There's actually more to the spelling differences, such as “aeroplane”/“airplane”, “centre”/“center”, and “offencive”/“offensive” (British spelling is on left, American spelling is on right).I do think, however, they should fix the timezone problem, so support for that.

If there was an English (UK) and an English (US) option I would be happy

I didn't actually know we spelt ‘offencive’… I always spell it like offensive, and plus, my British computer says it's wrong..
That's odd.
