Well you definitely need more projects, get some more projects and after you've posted several projects if you haven't gotten the option yet you can ask it's not there…https://scratch.mit.edu/users/Paddle2See/ for more help.

An explanation of the "New Scratcher" status
I think bots may have been able to get past CAPTCHA, and for some reason Scratch doesn't use captcha…Restrictions
- Can't use cloud data
- No signature (?)
- Have to wait longer between posts
- Can't edit/delete own posts
Ticks me off because I've been using the software for years, and just never got around to making a Scratch accountd, so when I do I get restrictions placed on my account??????
And if the problem is “bots” then how about solving that with an anti-bot mechanism (eg. CAPTCHA)?

An explanation of the "New Scratcher" status
wow thanks!
thanks a lot! When you joined the website, you may have noticed that your user profile says “New Scratcher”. If you haven't, it looks like this:
Anyway, you may find this annoying, because it has a few restrictions. Before making a topic asking how to get rid of it, please read this brief post about it.
Why it's here
The short answer is to prevent spam.
The longer answer is that this arose out of an actual situation that occurred. A while ago, a bunch of trolls created disposable accounts that posted inappropriate images all over the Scratch forums. In order to prevent that from happening again, the Scratch Team decided to create the “New Scratcher” status, so that in order to have the privileges that could lend themselves to trolling or spamming, users would actually have to show that they use the site for real and wait around a little bit. Unless a troll were extremely dedicated (which is exceedingly rare), he or she would get bored and move on before being able to cause any significant damage.
Restrictions
- Can't use cloud data
- Have to wait longer between posts
- Can't edit posts after leaving the page
- Can't post links to any non-Scratch site on the forums
- Have to wait 30 seconds between comments
- Can't post images
How to get rid of it
I knew the criteria on the old website, and it involved the amount of time you were registered, the number of projects you had, the number of comments you had, and the last time you visited the forums. In order to prevent this information from being abused, I am not going to list the exact numbers for each. On this website, I think the criteria are very similar, but may have a few changes.
Just be active, post constructive comments on peoples' projects, make projects, and generally be helpful around the site, and you will eventually find a link on your profile that says “Become a Scratcher”. Click it, and you will be promoted.
Any questions? Just reply to this thread!

In my opinion, the Scratcher is really useful and thanks to the Scratch doing there best to prevent trolls from ruining this website.

You can also be promoted when you go to your profile (username e.g. 7468348) and add #promote on the end (or click on become a scratcher). I'll use the example to show what the url should look like: https://scratch.mit.edu/users/7468348/#promote

An explanation of the "New Scratcher" status
The thing that makes new scratchers unable to edit posts after the page reloads; what is the purpose of that? It makes it hard for new scratchers to have collaborations or anything, because they could never edit the main post.

An explanation of the "New Scratcher" status
I'm guessing they don't want New Scratchers to say something vulgar, they get reported and then edit the post to say “I never said that”? But questions I would have to that reasoning are: The thing that makes new scratchers unable to edit posts after the page reloads; what is the purpose of that? It makes it hard for new scratchers to have collaborations or anything, because they could never edit the main post.
1: I would think there would be an edit history to view the pre-edit wording, but perhaps I am wrong about that?
2: What if the person said something vulgar because they were mad, left the page, then came back wanting to remove it because they remembered it was against the rules? All they would be able to do is say “Sorry, I did not mean it that way I let my emotions control me.” but the vulgar statement would still be visible.
Admin however quit following this a long time ago, so if you really wanted to talk to a Scratch Team member about it you would have to go to their page and comment it.
