Problem with Scratch 2.0 offline editor
I've been using the offline editor with my classes, and we've run into a pretty annoying problem (NOT complaining, because I know it's in Beta, just letting you know). Each time we load our projects, if we click the costumes tab to do something with the sprites, the sprite changes position and is suddenly uncentered. We have to re-center the sprites each time we start working on the project.
The sprites are also a little different when we edit them – rounded edges are squared off, things aren't quite the size they were, etc.

Hmm, that is weird. I'll see if I can re-create it and see if I can find the problem and come up with some sort of work around

Problem with Scratch 2.0 offline editor
That's weird! I've personally noticed some costume-related problems in the offline editor, such as when all the costumes reset to the first one. I noticed these problems often happen on a duplicated sprite. Was your sprite duplicated at all? Were you using vector or bitmap graphics? Also, if you know, can you explain the steps that led to this?

Sorry, I can't seem to re-produce this, is there any other specific thing that you do to create this glitch??] Hmm, that is weird. I'll see if I can re-create it and see if I can find the problem and come up with some sort of work around

Thanks, and I hope this gets worked out soon!

Problem with Scratch 2.0 offline editor
When I open the project, the sprites work fine. If I select costume, the sprite becomes uncentered - it ends up in the extreme upper left corner of the editor, and I have to re-center. I haven't got the distortion that I used to any more (I'm thinking this may have been student error). I'll see if I can do a screen capture video of it happening and send it along so you can see exactly what is going on.
Thanks, and sorry it's taken so long for me to get back to this.

Problem with Scratch 2.0 offline editor
–Bump to update.–
Still having the issue, and I have done a screen capture video showing exactly what happens. I can't embed it in the forum post, so should I email it to someone? I'd have done this LONG before now, but snow days (and flood days and no water days and …) have kept us out of school a LOT lately.
Thanks!

Problem with Scratch 2.0 offline editor
Just tried to install the offline editor beta. Two issues:
1) The download page http://scratch.mit.edu/scratch2download/ says “Click INSTALL NOW and follow the instructions.” There is no “INSTALL NOW” link or button on the page. There is a “Download Scratch 2 Editor now.” This does not start the install – it just downloads the scratch.air file.
2) When one attempts to install the downloaded scratch.air, the Adobe Air installer reports “The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged.” I tried downloading it again. I tried using Adobe Air 3 and Adobe Air 4.
I have Scratch 1.4 installed, but that's not supposed to interfere.
Thanks for any hints!

Problem with Scratch 2.0 offline editor
@ ptressel - If you scroll down, under the header Optional Download, there is a link to download“(2) And then download and install the Scratch installer.”
However, I came to post here about my own problems.
I am using a Macbook Pro Retina with OS X 10.9.1 - Fresh install of Adobe Air and Scratch 2.0. I am having issues opening scratch files, more specifically the one I created onsite earlier. However after trying another, also had issues. However after repeatedly closing and opening Scratch, I was able to open someones else's project. However trying that with my own I still have no luck.
My first install was using the optional downloads, then after having the issues opening files, I removed scratch and tried the onsite installer.
For test purposes I will provide the link of my project. - http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/19129594/
Please let me know if you're able to open it.

I have a similar bug: When I have precisely centered my text it will fly into the corner and I have to center it AGAIN.

Yeah, I have that problem two but its not doing it anymore. That's good I have a similar bug: When I have precisely centered my text it will fly into the corner and I have to center it AGAIN.

Oh yeah, I'm also having the center changing bug too. I have it on bitmap so it deletes everything I made and I have to draw everything back again but the top left corner stuff.
It's very annoying

Problem with Scratch 2.0 offline editor
The same happens to me all the time. It's been reported quite a few times already (I was looking up for this in the forums a few weeks ago).
Somebody highlighted the following scenario to reproduce the problem (in the Offline editor):
- create a costume for your sprite, center it
- go the the script tab
- run the project in full screen
- stop the project, exit full screen
- go to the costumes tab
- TADAAAA ! the costume is now “centered” to the top left of the picture.
For large costumes (more than half the max width, or more than half the max height), it means the costume gets truncated.
Very annoying.
Workaround:
Before going back to the costume tab, open a sprite that you don't care about, and go to its costume tab. This one gets de-centered. But you don't care. Then only go to the sprite's costume you want to edit.
Hope this helps!

The bug still happens! Instead, the top-left is in the middle on the costume!

Problem with Scratch 2.0 offline editor
I have had the same problems, and let me point out that the question sensing blocks are also broken.
I think there are 2 solutions to the problem:
1) Upload your project to the scratch website and edit/use it there until the update is fixed as the online scratch still uses the older version.
2) Install scratch 1.4 and use that. The only difference is that it has a ‘forever if’ block and looks (slightly) uglier.
Scratch MIT could also do their bit by adding an install option of ‘install an older version’, or ‘uninstall previous update’.
