They can be used for:
Creating groups (100SC, so that Add Everything studios slow down)
As a get out of jail free card (1000sc, and can only be used once)
Having more than 500 sprites on the screen at once (this can be useful for games)
Posting on the Forums (to reduce spam)

How would these be obtained? They do limit spam and unnecessary studios, yes, but people tend to want to horde everything and not spend it, so active project makers will refuse to post on the forums and forum posters will become a lot less active. Generally, you don't want activity on the Forums to limit your project-making and you don't want making Studios limiting both.

As a get out of jail free card (1000sc, and can only be used once) Uh, if this is supposed to mean unbanning then no. You need parental approval before re-joining.
Having more than 500 sprites on the screen at once (this can be useful for games) No. As an experienced game maker this will NOT be useful for games. Keeping people's computers from crashing is what we strive for, not vast numbers of sprites to fancy up the game. Sorry.
Posting on the Forums (to reduce spam) Nope. Sorry, but I don't really think this will work. Plus, traffic in general will slow down on the forums.

No, just no. Spam isn't that much of an issue, and AE studios are just there, they won't bite you.

Sorry, but no support. A virtual currency will distract from the purpose of Scratch: learning how to program and instead shift the focus to fame. The ability to unlock features using a virtual currency will not be good either, because that would essentially mean that we are artificially preventing new scratchers from learning.
Also, disabling see inside and private messaging have been rejected already. The first was because if you post something on Scratch, you agree to put it under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 license, which allows remixing. The second one was because private messages are hard to moderate.

If you are that desperate to have your ‘scratch credits’, you can make the system in a project, and with a few complicated scripts you tax all you wanted.

You'd get the ability to purchase certain items that are not available otherwise.
You get them by making beautiful projects, buying them (1sc = one cent), when people donate to you, and by doing tasks.
