Ok, upon looking into this further, we're not going to be able to get very far. I'm fairly confident in our ability to make the player. Even at 480 I, it would be higher resolution than DadofMrLog's, and might possibly run smoother. I know of ways to do that. The problem comes with actually making the videos to play. We could make video editing software in Scratch to help with that, but that would take a very long time to accomplish, even if we were all active and working on it like a full time job. There's no way we could finish this in a month, 3 months, heck, I doubt we could manage a year.

That being said, I think we should abandon the project. There are too many time consuming complications, and though I love pioneering things on here, I don't see a point in putting all that effort into it just because it hasn't been done yet. It would be a very disheartening first project, and most people wouldn't stick it out to the end. Ultimately, a game would be a better bet for us, even if it was small.

Yup. I'll post assignments for everyone at the bottom. After I reply to everyone.

Scratch has a cloning limit.
Yes it does. I got the number 576 by dividing the amount of coordinates and clone amount.

Indeed. It might be. I'll write something about that in your assignments!

I see what you're getting at Sonic; however, I think sticking to this would be better. In later projects, we can always use pixels and we will have already learned how! Again, my idea was to make a video player AND a search bar. There are complications due to the fact that we're using a website to make a YouTube related thing happen.
1) In @DadOfMrLog'svideo player, it took a LONG time to load the video.
2) A cloud list that holds all of this will be hard to work around
2A) In some cloud list engines i've seen, none of them have gone past the 97 character support.
2B) We're holding numbers and not letters; so, our chars (characters) can be used a little less.
2C) Not many people have knowledge on Cloud Engines. We need a LOT of people who know that. I will mention this later in your assignments.

Yea, of course it's ok! We need some more artists anyways

Assignments:
CODERS: Please research on how to USE a cloud engine. I suggest looking into Griffpatch's cloud engine. His cloud engine is in a sprite called “Multiplayer”. After you finish researching, remix a project a project called “Lorry” by Griffpatch. Remix it into a cloud engine that supports a minimum of 3 PLAYERS.

ARTISTS: You guys are to design:
1) Logo for THIS VIDEO COMPANY. Company name is “ScratchTube”
2) Make a Start/Pause button.

You guys have a pretty easy job this week. Don't expect it to be VERY easy though….

SOUND/TARDIS: Hey Tardis! You're job is to find a happy song on Youtube that DOESN'T have a copyright on it. For example NCS (NoCopyRight Music) gives no fee for using their songs. You can also use Tobu's songs. These are just examples.

If you want to go over the top, REMIXXX it into your own tune! Have fun!
This is due on 11/30/2015!

Ok i've done some calculating and my results look like this!
Since we have 300 clones to use we divide the amount of pixels by the number of clones.
We end up getting: 576
If you take the square root of it… you get 24. Now if you haven't gotten to what i'm saying yet then here it is.
Each clone will get a 24X24 square area. That is PERFECT.
This is what the code would look like:
when green flag clicked
repeat (300)

create clone of [Painter]
end
when I start as a clone
forever

change [clone amount] by (1)
if <(clone amount) = [ 24]> then
go to x: (0) y: (y position)

end
stamp
set pen color to (color)
end
Ok there won't be a forever block and this doesn't make sense really. Because it's not really done. Well, of course it's not done just a quick code series. The variables will be transferred into one of the three lists that will act like variables.

In order to utilize the cloud, we would have to come up with the best compression algorithm the world has ever seen. Not just Scratch. The best, in the world.
Second, you didn't give any specifics on how we would make the videos themselves. I could make a video player by myself, no problem, but it would take weeks to make even half a video for it to play. So how on earth would we do that? @Dad used a python script to encode png files in a way that his project could use it. But there's no point in doing that other than to show off.
Lastly, I have cloud engines of my own, Griff patch isn't the only one.

Well, actually, I have one random idea. Since this video software is going to be YOUTUBE related…. i was thinking about having the player upload all his or her pictures compressed into a .gif by going into #editor. Then access a specific sprite it will upload by using a color scanner. Sound will have to be some other project.

The only way that would work is if we had several instances of the project always open as a server of sorts to store this data. But it still seems like it's showing off rather than being useful in anyway…

You said you had a suggestion? May I hear it. I'm rather desperate to start at this point XD

It's doable, but very complex. I don't really want to do it if it's just to show off how talented we are, I'd rather there be a point.

My suggestion is to freeze the collab for the next 4 months, then we can review how everyone is doing. Does everyone agree with this?

Four months is extreme enough to just forget it. Maybe over the summer we can come back to this, but it's apparent that none of you guys have time during the school year. It was a cool thought though.

Any suggestions on how long the freeze should be? Should it be until summer? Or Winter Break?

Official Statement!
Based on the recent replies to this topic, with permission from acwang20 and the rest of the collab, I hereby declare this collab frozen until after May 31 2159 Zulu.
Ideas are welcome, but official work on a collab project will not happen unless 2/3 of the active collab agree to thaw the collab before the specified date and time. azwang20, if you disagree, you have 72 hours to reply and declare this statement void.
Thank you.
