Scratch 2.0 Offline Editor won't install

I click the big logo “Install now” button, Adobe Air launches the install process, it gets to the “Open or save” screen, I click Open, It asks if i want to install it, I click Yes, It says Installing in (blah blah), I Proceed, It starts to install then-

Sorry, an error has occured.
The installer file is damaged. Please obtain a new one from the author.

What is wrong??

Weird… Maybe try another browser and check if you have the same or similar issue.

Using Windows 7 x64 and Firefox

Sometimes the file gets damaged during the download (especially on a very spotty internet connection). Just try downloading again.

My connection's not spotty, I tried with Internet Explorer too, and it happens every time.

Hmm, it sounds like Adobe AIR is causing the issue. You might want to try a manual installation of Adobe AIR to see if that helps.

fore me it works in internet explore and not mozilla firefox

I had this problem up until I disabled McAfee real time scan and firewall. With virus scanner disabled, everything installed OK.

Yes, EVERYBODY TURN MCAFEE FIREWALL AND REAL-TIME SCANNING OFF FOR THE DOWNLOAD TO WORK. Your welcome ;D

You don't need to turn the firewall off, just the “Real-Time Scanning”.

I am able to get the icon on my desktop but once I click it, it the offline editor window just flashes open then close. How do I keep this from happening?

I can't install Scratch Offline Editor 2 (434a).

Adobe Air was installed correctly.
My Operating System is Windows 8.1. This is the error:

Sorry, an error has occurred
The application could not be installed. Try installing it again. If the problem persists, contact the application author
Error# 0

Before, i could install Scratch Offline Editor. But, when AIR was updated, it was impossible to update to the new Offline Editor (434a).
I unstalled the Scratch editor and tried install again, but it was impossible.
I need install Scratch 2 urgent!! (now the online editor is my only option…)

Hi there

What I can suggest is to uninstall AIR and the editor and reboot

and try installing again. Hopefully, this will work

My Scratch 2 offline editor version: 437

My scratch 2 offline editor installed successfully but it won't update to v441.2 because application update says updating for 2 minutes 3 seconds underneath 92% completed then it says unable to update scratch 2 offline editor. Please try again later.

SOLUTION
You can install archived versions of Adobe Air:
https://helpx.adobe.com/air/kb/archived-air-sdk-version.html

Download the Runtime file for a previous version - on OSX I randomly chose v.14 and have had success booting/running Scratch 2.
Make sure to first uninstall the current AIR Runtime.

I hope this helps:

1. Make sure your computer is fine with the system requirements (it should be).
2. Download Adobe Air if you haven't already - this is a common mistake. Download it here: https://get.adobe.com/air/
3. Make sure you are permitted to download and run .exe files
4. Disable any anti-viruses such as AVG/get them to recognise the Scratch program (obviously turn them on again afterwards.
5. If all this fails, try a different computer.

Also make sure you have downloaded it from the Scratch webiste and downloaded it as the correct file type.
