Hey, Scratch Team members, is it okay to make a placeholder project with a non-scary/gore thumbnail with links to the actual .sb2 file (Game Jolt or Dropbox …etc.) in the project description?

It's a workaround that's been mentioned many times, but I don't think it has been addressed straight forward if it's allowed or not by any of you yet.

So, can we get a “yes” or “no” about doing this? Thanks in advance!
Creative! But I don't think so - that would be pretty much the same as linking to a location with inappropriate material.
But it wouldnt be on Scratch though.

The link would. It would be just like a warning.

When kids (or anybody, actually) are working on Scratch, we don't want them to be just one mouse-click away from inappropriate stuff. That's not enough of a barrier. That's one reason we review all the Scratcher-created websites before we allow them to be advertised on Scratch. Those sites aren't actually on Scratch - but if they are linked to from Scratch, they need to be appropriate for all Scratchers. The same principle would apply to the “placeholder project” approach proposed by @Ataxaos.

No I mean, we wouldn't talk about it at all on Scratch and just upload it on a thirdparty download site? Would that be okay?

Sure, that would be fine. It's your project and you can put it anywhere that allows it.

I think Paddle2See is trying to say that putting a link to non-scratch appropriate content is like putting non-scratch appropriate content on scratch. For instance, swearing on scratch is obviously disallowed, but it doesn't make sense to allow links to websites full of swear words. For the same reason, links to inappropriate content on other websites is disallowed. Hopefully that helps.

Everybody:
So I've took a look at the ToU and here's something:
1.1 These Terms of Use constitute an agreement between you and the Scratch Team that governs your use of scratch.mit.edu and all associated services, including but not limited to the Scratch Day and ScratchX websites (collectively “Scratch”). The Scratch Team is part of the Lifelong Kindergarten Group in the Media Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (“MIT”). Please read the Terms of Use carefully. By using Scratch you affirm that you have read, understood, and accepted the terms and conditions in the Terms of Use. If you do not agree with any of these conditions, please do not use Scratch.
If we say that the FNAF semi-ban was a condition and if you don't agree to it, you cannot Scratch.
But it's a condition, right? So if you don't agree with the ST: Don't use Scratch.

This is straight up ridiculous, Just because some little kids got scared of a game, they ban it. THERE ARE FLIPPING SONIC.EXE AND SLENDER GAMES ON HERE THAT ARE WAY SCARIER THAN FNAF. I understand that there is a murder backstory but there are children's' mystery books about murderers and stuff so why would they ban FNAF? Even my own parents said it was ridiculous and they don't even like FNAF.
Ikr it's so ridiculous and I don't agree
I mean I don't agree with the ban, i do agree with your comment

Yeah, thanks. Will you help me get FNAF back in scratch by saying #LongLiveFNaF
