Also, no support. We pretty much have enough problems with the commenting. Besides,

2. The chances of a person posting a bad word in a project is pretty low… Actually, the chances of someone posting a bad word on Scratch is very low too…

Thing is, Scratch projects can be shared elsewhere or just kept to yourself. The terms of use say nothing about shared projects. Also, some strings, readouts, data, etc might be broken by this sort of thing. Data readers covering wild data could randomly have censored content. However, what might work would be a checker before you share to see about any censorable words, but only having that checker notify the creator they potentially have these words in their project and can be reported. After that, nothing should happen.

Except that if you store both the original text and the final text you'll know which words are bad words.

Since it censors words that are bad, people can not only detect them, they can find out what they are.

Apply this to 7 year olds, append that to your list of your already existing 101 problems with censor blocks.

I see a lot of peeps who do that, it stinks. I've seen the H-E- double hockey sticks word on scratch and even the F word

Only half-support. too many work arounds. You could easily create a project to decode and encode words (tried myself for a cloud list)

I think that this would be a very good feature!
A list always being exactly the same would be added called “swearword” or something.

You would just replace the string with the censored version

This is a brilliant idea I've been dreaming up for months.
Allow words in cloud variables but have an autocensor system.
This would be similar to filterbot (who is annoying but does keep a lot of bad words out.)
This would solve the skyscraper/spoon problem as you're allowed to say those in comments/forum posts.

Also, you can't do workarounds for this problem because you can't have projects with massive lists of cuss words

Oh god, this thread has been necroposted so much it must be from the prehistoric. (But, really too much necropost)

Ok jokes aside, a list of bad words would be a really BAD idea, since any scratcher could look at it and learn them. I think a list of non-bad words like the one i found out of luck sometime ago by @maxers would be a better idea, and check if the sentence contains a word not in that list.

Is it possible to whitelist every legitimate word in the world?

Also, censored words aren't the only words that can hurt.

What about if I said something like “skyscraper”? Then the middle of the word would be censored.

Or ‘glass’. That word has a REAL swear word at the end!

Well you can make a swear word detecter by encoding the words so when the words are encode it's numbers dect of it a offize word or not
