cubeupload.com is dead

Today we gather to remember cubeupload.com, the shortly discovered, highly recommended, non-intrusive advertising image host compatible with Scratch's image whitelist.

That aside, it does seem that either CubeUpload is dead, or is undergoing prolonged maintenance. Which image host could we conclude to be second best, and thus proactively promote, as was done with CubeUpload?

Welp, time to make my own cubeupload clone.

ETA: anywhere between 2,628,000 and infinity seconds.

Just occurred to me that the majority of images used in the AT forum will probably be broken.

If they are having server issues it seems to have gone on for a while. I don't suppose they have the money to pay for reliable hosting from just a couple of ads at the bottom of the page.

Let's brainstorm…what's the cheapest way to store and serve tons of images?
Ideas:
  1. Amazon S3 (probably not, bandwidth is SUPER expensive)
  2. Google Cloud Storage (still pretty expensive)
  3. Microsoft Azure (???)
  4. A dedicated server on OVH/SoYouStart/Kimsufi (unmetered connection, but limited to 100/250/1000 gigabits per second, plus storage is limited, pricing pretty steep for more storage/server power)
  5. RunAbove object storage (cheap storage and bandwidth, sort of yay until I get tons of traffic)
  6. My own website server (limited storage space and might make Verizon/my dad angry)
  7. Front any of the above with CloudFlare, unlimited bandwidth with a big network, but must pay $20/month for HTTPS that is compatible with most browsers (Free SSL is incompatible with Windows XP and others)

Let me know if you guys find anything groundbreakingly cheap.

That might work. We can piggyback off of imgur. Let me go investigate…

Yeah, or you could set up _one_ redirect page and we could use whatever host/dynamic image like yours
Whatever you want

*cough* opensprites (as soon as cheese and Zeus get around to petitioning the ST to whitelist it) *cough*

Also, I've been using cf on a site of mine for quite a while. Who uses XP anymore? Check your stats, I doubt you'll find an XP useragent

Sadly, about 12%: https://www.netmarketshare.com/operating-system-market-share.aspx?qprid=10&qpcustomd=0
12% = millions and millions

It's the principle though. Would you rather use a site with a bad case of mal-advertising (obviously not much respect for users), or a site which has non-intrusive ads and a more friendly atmosphere?

Unfortunately, it looks like I can't carry much information in a 301 redirect. URL hashes can't be read by the server. Any other ideas?
