I got SimCity 2000 about a month ago and I love it! How about you?
Oldest city (DELETED) New City starts Jan 1900 and lived until Jan 1957.

I was so pleased when I got Simcity 2000 as a boy. In all honesty though I was never any good to it.
Later I played Simcity 3000 and was actually able to get the budget to balance. Sadly I couldn't get the Linux version to run properly.

I got mad, because I bought Sim City 5 which uses Origin, and one day it just didn't show up in my Origin account, so emailed them but never got it back. For that, I will never buy an Origin game again, but I love Sim City 4

In simcity 2000, turn off Auto-Budget, start a new city, and put ten hydroelectric power plants. I was so pleased when I got Simcity 2000 as a boy. In all honesty though I was never any good to it.

Then zone 6x6 of light industrial, make a hill and zone 4x2 of dense residential. Keep building your roads and put dense commercial zone. 1X1 ONLY!!!!
Your “Comercial” bar goes up.
Make sure you run 3/4 of the above proccess in llama (ALT+2)

Well that kicks it a bit off topic
I just told you how to earn $50 a year in a “mere” ten years

How so? Well that kicks it a bit off topic
I'm not suggesting that it wouldn't work or is a bad idea. It's just sort of against the spirit of the game, even if it's not against the rules of it. Is that how you'd plan a city? If you get what I mean. I just told you how to earn $50 a year in a “mere” ten years

I have SimCity 3000, but have never actually taken the time to build up an actual city in it. On the occasion that I still play it, all I ever do is set up a few buildings, then proceed to destroy them all with fires and riots.
I remember back when I was about five years old, my older brother played SimCity 3000 almost every day. Unfortunately for me, I was scared easily as a little kid, so when this song came on while my brother was playing the game, it always scared me really bad. (my brother liked having the volume turned way up on the computer, and I lived in a small house at the time, making it very easy to hear where ever I was) If I remember right, the song made me think of the undead or something.
Even listening to it now, twelve years later, still makes me uneasy. But then again, it is dark out now, which probably doesn't make it any easier to listen to.

Now imagine listening to it as an easily scared five-year-old. NOPE. Aaah you're right, that song IS scary! It's like rrrrrrrruuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…….
To make it worse, the game also plays it on times when it would be most likely to scare you. For example, it plays when you're building something underground, or after a bad disaster happens.

I'm seeing if I can get the Linux version of Sim City 3000 working. Something I didn't know about until yesterday was this: I play an opensource version released on the GNU public license-Micropolis. My OS:liflg.org (Linux Installers for Linux Gamers). Apparently they've put together new installers for lots of the Linux games that were released 10 - 15 years ago. Maybe I'll be able to get the accursed thing running properly at last!
My Operating system: Ubuntu Linux
Once they fix their beta file links…

I have SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition. I actually just started playing it again a few days ago after being at the grocery store where they are doing construction
I forgot how fun it was!
I just installed it on my computer. I used to have it on the same computer (and a bunch of worlds along with it), but I reinstalled the OS, and had to delete all the worlds. But one of the highlights was one that had ~80,000 citizens in it. Most of the city was high-density, and I had unlocked and built all of the high-end reward buildings (country club, etc). I had another world with over 110,000 citizens in it, but the traffic was terrible (and it took FOREVER to load and save).
But I'm starting over and should have something to report in a few days!

Usually I set the taxes for high-income residents to 7%. You'll make less but your city will thrive (although you need to be at 26,000 people before they will start building high-density).Oh yeah, I forgot. I remember at camp when we were done with our animation work this was the only fun game on the computer, and we had the one from 2003, so all we did was blow up the dumb preset towns

I disagree. I had no more than four hundred residents and I zoned 2x2 of dense residential. Three SimCity years later, they turn into nice apartments Usually I set the taxes for high-income residents to 7%. Well that happened last weekend (see post datestamp) so this post might be outdated.
Just sayin..
