(I'm starting a new thread instead of necroposting. I've forgotten if that's acceptable :P)

CS:GO anyone?
I have about 100 hours and haven't tried competitive yet, but I can bhop for 2-4 jumps, so I got that going for me which is nice.
My long-range aim is currently rubbish on non-scoped weapons, even though I'm on a pretty low sensitivity.
I tend to hang back instead of rushing, depending on whether my team is getting rekt or not. (Casual games are pretty much always something like 3-8)

Anyone here who's good?
Post your rank, hours, tips, tricks, strategies, anything cool you've pulled off (once in nuke I smoked the vent, went in it, planted the bomb before the CTs knew what was up, and won the round ), favorite weapons (mine are the awp and tec9), favorite community servers (theres this hide and seek one that's pretty fun), stupid reasons you've gotten kicked (I've gotten kicked twice now; I suspect it's because I played a particularly annoying sample both times to protest some annoying “in-game DJs”), and basically anything about CS:GO (or even CS:S if you want)

My favorite weapons have to be the UMP-45, M4A4, M4A1-S, and a few others.

I recently hit rank 2 only to get a field-tested MP9 skin. I'M SO HAPPY. THIS IS TOTALLY NOT SARCASM BTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Im rank 8 almost rank 9, competitive is super fun, I have about 109 hours or something.
For pistols I like : Five Seven, P250, Desert Eagle, Tech-9, and the C-z75 auto a lot.
Heavy I prefer: XM1014 (for the rapid fire)
Rifles I use: SSG 08, Ak-47, M4a1-s, AWP, and AUG
Gear I tend to use is: Zeus 27x, Kevlar and helmet, and defuse kit. (For competitive you have to buy armor and defuse kits)
SMGs I enjoy playing with are: MAC-10, UMP-45, MP9, and MP7.

My tips for competitive are, try to communicate with your team, it will allow you to have more fun and you will get to meet some pretty cool people.
Also don't be afraid to watch pro level game play, you can learn different spaces on the maps through it.

Some tricks are, Try learning weapon spray pattern (shoot the item at the wall and see where they impact) so then you can get some easy head shots.
SHIFT WALK! don't run around certain surfaces because in competitive people will listen for your footsteps.

Oh and having a higher sensitivity isn't a bad thing, I play on like 4x a normal mouse speed. You just have to adjust to it.

I really like doing A-splits on dust 2 thats pretty much the only strategy besides rushing I've done so far.

I've hidden the bomb so that CT didn't find it until it blew. I've gotten my fair share of 360 No scopes, and I've done some 360 no scope zeuses

Maybe we'll run into each other in some competitive game

I prefer the a1s over the a4 just because I can spray a bit longer (and as I said, my aim is rubbish ). The UMP-45 is probably the best SMG.

also the a1s is a bit more accurate and makes no sound and for SMG Im stuck between UMP and Mac-10 since I have a pretty nice mac 10 skin

And, I got tips for both M4s, and all rifles.

SSG 08 - You can jump shot, which is the only thing that an AWP can't do, it seems to have faster accuracy, but not as good as the AWP, just hope you severly damage him. And of course, attack from long range, have a pistol that is fast like a P250.

AK-47 - The most popular rifle in CSGO and of all CS Series, go aim for the head, and 2 round burst and strafe slowly as long an AWP doesn't get you, tap at long, and of course, spray a close and get a headshot at least.

AWP - An well-favored sniper rifles by sniper fans, one shot one kill, except that legs, quick-switch after you fire, it helps the fire rate, it could get faster then a SSG, at least equip a CZ, or a P250 and smoke and flashes.

AUG - A scoped Assault Rifle that can be used by CTs at longer ranges if they wished to attack from longer ranges, again with the AK, except that scope during the longer and or mid-ranges. Quick-Switch can help.

SG 553 - A much more powerful and overwhelming Assault rifles used by the Ts, The headshot can go anywhere, even at AWP range.

M4A4 - A faster, but less accurate version of the M4A1-S, burst to 4-5 round instead of 2, it could be used, but use a bit more then usual.

M4A1-S - A slower variant, but way more accurate, using this may be hard at mid-range, since this is so well known to kill at long ranges, use the tap fire method instead of burst at mid, it's too low for ammo.

Galil AR - An Eco weapon, great to spray, but it's somewhat a bit more accurate then the AK, although it's less overwhelming, but it's more effective at close range as it has 35/90.

FAMAS - An Eco CT rifle, great for all range, use the burst at longer ranges because of the Fire Rate and Accuracy Boost.

Here ya, did it help? Come ask me again if you want to.

Yep, pretty much. I'd add

Tec-9 - HANDS DOWN the best pistol for T. Don't bother with anything else. Run inaccuracy is minimal and the magazine is pretty big. Just run and spam click

Deagle - The most powerful pistol, but has a lot of recoil. Quickswitch to shoot faster instead of waiting for recoil.

Glock-18 - The default T gun. You can do jump shots with this if you have it in burst, jump, switch to auto in the air and immediately fire.

USP-S - The CT pistol I prefer. Has a tiny amount of ammo though, which sucks. Remove the silencer if you anticipate CQB, otherwise use it to get headshots mid to long.

MAG-7 - The best CT shotgun (arguably the best shotgun in the game). Amazing for CQB and mid if you aim correctly

Nova - A great shotgun for sniping mid. I've also gotten kills at long if opponent has low enough health.

Negev - If you can control the recoil (I can to some extent) then use it to spray and stop rushes in their tracks. Great for CQB and mid, for long it's possible if you tap. Also great for annoying teammates during warm up, and as a flashlight in tunnels

P90 - My favorite SMG, and popular among newbies. Same as Tec-9, just spray and pray

Sup i have almost 300 hours, rank 18 (I have no life.) and I'm Silver Elite Master, gotta get dat nova rank Won like 80 competitive matches and i can't use an AWP. Like, literally, can't. But I'm good with scout and expert with ak/m4 (I prefer M4A1-S btw, no like M4A4, even though it got nerfed)

Also, i face palm at anyone that removes the silencer, such a silver 1-4 move and it really doesn't do anything, this isn't Counter Strike: Source or older games where they give you extra damage, removing the silencer just gives you more damage drop-off and less accuracy with no buffs. They have the option for a M4A4 and P2000 for a reason…

Also,

MP7 - Its a good weapon and compare it as the P90 is the AK of the SMGs and the MP7 is the Galil AR to the SMGs.

PP-Bizon - Best spray weapon, effective at close range + recoil control = easy kills, easy headshots. It has an easy spray pattern similar to MP9 or MAC-10

Mac-10/MP9 - Most versatile 2 hand weapon as it provides fast movement speed with easy recoil to control. Although the high fire rates give more chance of reloading and the low damage makes it hard to kill on body shots its the ultimate eco weapon if you can afford for rushing. (But the MP9 does cost more… dang CT weapons…. i could of brought a flashbang, speaking of grenades…)

Flashbang - The go-to grenade for entering a room or area and blinding the enemies for an easy kill

Smoke - A Diversionary device good for blocking enemies from attacking you, forcing them back and them to spray or hope that they don't die going though it.

HE Grenade/Explosive Grenade - Same cost as the Smoke but instead of providing a wall it provides damage in a small radius, right under their feet and it can be fatal. Good for those able to throw grenades effectively

Molotov/Incendiary Grenade - Quick fact, CT's Incend (as it is called colloquially) or Incendiary Grenade costs $600, where the molotov costs $400. The Incend does less damage to players and lasts shorter even though it costs more. Weird eh?

Anyways, the Molotov or Incend is also a diversionary device used to stop players from entering a room or area though a path for a certain amount of time, lasts shorter than the smoke but the smoke coming from the fire can stop people from AWPing you if you are on Dust 2 Goose on A site, watching Short.

Decoy - Waste of money, higher you climb in the ranks, less often it is used. Ever seen a pro player use it? No? Thought so.

Also, the Nova and the Sawed-Off are weapons you shouldn't buy in competitive, they slow you down more than a typical SMG, they take forever to fire again and by the time you do you are dead. Please Don't.

The XM1014 is the most underrated weapon in CSGO, its decent but if you want to get anywhere stick away from shotguns. Mag-7 isn't bad but don't use it in competitive.

Deagle: The most mis-understood weapons to silvers and novas. It is not a weapon for spamming, quick switching doesn't lower recoil and its a weapon with a higher skill cap than the AWP. It is for slow accurate shots and acts somewhat like a hand-AWP. It takes a long time for the recoil to come back so go for headshots or 2 body shots if you miss. Please for the love of god don't buy it on the first round and go crouching and spraying, its worse than a glock if you do that

Glock 18: On the first round, either buy armor or replace the glock with TEC-9, P250. Glock-18 does the lowest damage out of all weapons in csgo and it takes 3 headshot to an un-armorored opponent.

Zeus: Isn't viable in competitive play.

UMP-45: Nerfed a while back, good eco weapon for CT, not viable for T as they have MAC-10

CZ-75 Auto: Oh god, where do i start.

It got nerfed almost a year ago, do not use it, it is only viable for CT so maybe use it on CT but Tec-9 is way better and its an ok Eco pistol for CT.

Dual Berettas: Never use… sure it got buffed but its only viable on the first round and even the CZ is better, thats saying a lot

So thats about it… i spent way to much time and i have no life. I have homework though so dangit >.<

This pretty much sums up the main reason I remove the USP-S silencer :P
Dat stereo sound effect - so dank

RangerMC wrote:

Utterly useless high in the ranks (I hear). Use a pistol, decoy, or even the C4 to trick enemies into looking away for a brief second.
Edit: Well, some pop flashes are useful but they're hard to get perfect.

RangerMC wrote:

Protip: If you have an auto, spam it through the smoke. You might get someone
Smoke is most useful for blocking snipers as you sneak through an area, eg crate to B site entrance in Nuke. I've used a smoke before to sneak by A site into the right vent and plant the bomb before CTs knew what was up.

RangerMC wrote:

Great for stopping rushes

RangerMC wrote:

Wrong. Decoy is super useful both for tricking enemies into looking away (they think it's a flashbang) and because the decoy weapon noises can sometimes trick the enemy as well (eg, if you're sniping, drop it under you, then enemies will peek immediately after they hear the decoy shot and you can take them out )

RangerMC wrote:

2 most utterly useless weapons: Sawed Off and Berettas. Just don't use them unless it's deathmatch and you feel like trolling

RangerMC wrote:

I'd say MAG-7 can be used in comp

RangerMC wrote:

Wrong. Quick switching resets recoil faster than it would normally reset.

RangerMC wrote:

y not? Because valve nerfed it recently? (RIP)

RangerMC wrote:

I've actually tried this, and it's basically the 3rd most useless weapon after sawed off and berettas

Also don't forget to use common sense when playing
basically don't do the following:

-Not communicate with your team

-Plant the bomb without your team being ready

-DON'T shoot your team mates

- DON'T hide the bomb

-Listening to your teammates can be a good thing

~Silver elite - 115 hours on record- Friends rank: Global Elite (I've gotten lots of advice from him) Favorite skin I own: Maybe my Big iron?

Yeah communicate and listen in comp. Make sure your messages are concise eg “sniper long” or “covering with a flash”

In casual, shoot your teammates all you want
On second thought I guess it's a bad habit

Hide the bomb but tell your team where it is.

Note:
1. I don't recommend using the P90 due to superior rifle accuracy. Especially in Competitive.
2. TEC-9 is a great go-to pistol, I still enjoy getting headshots from the Glock.
3. Quickswitching doesn't work with the Deagle.
4. Yes, do equip the MAG-7.
