Is there a way to disable Autosave?

The autosave is really annoying, especially when it saves when you mess up something and you can't fix it. Is there any way to disable Autosave? (Without making the save button dissapear, of course)

If you leave the project running, then it doesn't seem to attempt to save. That is a pretty flimsy work around though.

I'd suggest doing a “download to your computer” periodically and then if you do make a mistake you can always go back to your last good copy.

What do mean “Download”?

Under the file menu (if I have the correct name), as well as “save” there are options to “download to your computer” and “upload from your computer”. This basically allows you to save/load your project to/from your computer. I use this to keep versions of my project from before any major change.

I disconnect from the internet, then I can't save but you can still work, when you want to save reconnect

You can also save a copy of the project online by FILE SAVE AS A COPY. I do this on big projects.

ST Please give us a way to disable autosave. IT IS HORRIBLE!!!

You can hit revert to last time opened. I think it's under File menu.

Not really, but it would be really nice if the ‘draft’ button (which does effectively nothing) had that effect.

What would be even nicer would be if the autosave saved each edit separately and allowed you to revert to arbitrary previous versions.

I guess we're not looking hard enough.

They just updated scratch, so maybe they added a “disable autosave” function.

What I've seen happen is that people have a

ask [close this when done] and wait

and that seems to disable autosave?

Don't want autosave? Just use the offline editor if it is possible, also having a forever loop running in the background prevents autosave until the red sign is pressed, or the others solutions others scratchers gave above.

I would not mind the autosave so much if we had an undo button (of course that would require undoing beyond the autosave to say the beginning of the session)… Now that would be really cool…

We do have that. It's called REVERT. Look under file menu.

The autosave only kicks in when you make changes to your project. Believe me, without it, there would be much unhappier people around here because they forgot to save their changes. “Why don't we have an autosave function?” would be their complaint.

It always autosaves when you change something. If you don't change anything it might not.
