IP ban? Possibly a glitch.
Just this minute I went onto the Scratch website on my tablet and the page had the usual Scratch bar at the top, but the rest of the screen was white, and it had some text saying that my network had received an IP ban for breaking the Community Guidelines.
I thought back to the last times I used Scratch and I didn't remember doing anything wrong. If I had done something bad enough to receive an IP ban straight away (I've only had one alert in the past, when I was new to Scratch), I'd remember, right? No-one else in my house uses Scratch, although I do have a couple of alt accounts which I never use.
I logged in to my account and checked my messages, where I didn't have any warnings or anything. Furthermore, I found that I could use Scratch just as I do without a supposed IP ban.
So, I'm assuming that it is just a glitch, but it really did give me a fright when I first visited the site today.
My browser / operating system: Android 4.2.2, Firefox 41.0, No Flash version detected

Your tablet IP must've been thought to be a banned IP.

Aren't all ip adresses unique and all different ?If you have a dynamic IP (probably) or use Tor, no.

Well then this guy just happened to have bad RNG….Aren't all ip adresses unique and all different ?If you have a dynamic IP (probably) or use Tor, no.
Still though, are you sure the IP ban works that way…?
We need some ST help, I suppose.

I probably am not qualified for this conversation anyway, but…
I know sometimes I randomly(?) switch IPs in the same WiFi system, so couldn't that be abused…?

*facepalm*I remember reading somewhere that rebooting your router changes the router IP, so the ST might be banning that rather than the computer IP, or both.

But if they're banning the router's IP, the issue wasn't a dynamic IP. Right?
I honestly don't have a full grasp, so sorry 'bout that.

It seems more logic to me to ban the router IP and not the computer IP.

It seems more logic to me to ban the router IP and not the computer IP.Which means that it's a bug with the Scratch system itself.

Okay, I've contacted the Scratch team and I haven't noticed this again. I don't use Tor or anything, and I think I just have an average IP address. I don't think anyone's rebooted it unless my little bro's been playing about.

Depends if you have a static or dynamic IP your IP looks like 123.456.789.123*facepalm*I remember reading somewhere that rebooting your router changes the router IP, so the ST might be banning that rather than the computer IP, or both.

If you have a static IP it will not change. I have this
If you have a dynamic IP, it can change, i.e. a power outage would.

If you have a dynamic IP, it can change, i.e. a power outage would. If Gyro had a dynamic router IP, then someone may have switched it off or there was a power outage, causing the banned message to show.
