Watership Down is one of my favourite books EVER!

If you haven't read it, don't be fooled. It isn't a fluffy bunny story. There's lots of death and drama and I really wouldn't consider it a book for young children. There are countless dark scenes, including the story of the Black Rabbit of Inlé. And if that isn't dark, I'm not sure what is…

My favourite characters are Blackberry because he's the smart one and Pipkin because he's adorable!

Oh, and the ending actually made me cry. I don't cry at books often, but THAT ENDING :'(
How was the ending sad? It actually made me feel a bit happy.
SPOILERS (highlight)Yes I know Hazel dies but it really wasn't that sad.

SPOILERS

It made me happy as well as making me cry! It's such a lovely ending. It probably affected me strongly because of my pets.

I love that book. I have seen the film too. They are both really good, however I must say I prefer the book version. I cried at the part where Bigwig got caught in the snare (sorry for spoiling it) and the ending. It is one of my faviourite stories of all time though. sooooo good. I agree cheesemaster101. It is not what it seems to those who haven't read it. Is quite sad and has alot of deaths in it. It is truly an amazing story though and Richard Adams is an amazing author to have written a book like this so well. Love it

I like Bigwig and Pipkin. And Cowslip. Though I have no idea why…

I think it's kind of weird that Watership Down has become so popular. I mean, it's too violent for younger kids, but.. it's about rabbits. Surely there aren't very many adults/teenagers who are interested in books about rabbits? People are always saying it's a classic. Has anyone thought about how it might've gotten so popular?

Ugh, I can just imagine the scene with the snare in the movie… Thankfully I have not seen it.

Watership Down.

FINALLY I FOUND THIS TOPIC

bumpy bump

I haven’t read the original novel, but I have read the graphic novelization of it (which I assume is closest in plot and details to the og novel) and watched the 2018 Netflix adaptation
I’ve even made my own Watership Down OC

Watership Down is like they took Warriors, found a way to cram all four of the series into one book, and then added a rabbit twist. (Except they kind of skipped the first series and focused mainly on the other three.) Still good anyway.
glad I’m not the only one who was reminded of Warrior Cats when I read this
It reminded me of like a combination of the New Prophecy and Dawn of the Clans
