Lord of the Rings
With an elf.my favorit lord of the rings carecter is Arwen. She seems too pale and divine for my nature. I really like Gimli. He is really an odd and funny dwarf to be going on a long adventure outside a cave or mountain.

My whole family thinks I look like Arwen. I don't.Yay LotR thread! ^^
I'm such a huge fan. The books and movies are both great.
If I had to choose a favorite character, it'd be Legolas, but I love them all!
x3 I love Legolas. My two favorites are Gandalf and Legolas, I think.
Same here!
I <3 All the characters though. My camp counselor said I looked like Arwen once and I'm like: O_O No I don't. But I took it as a compliment anyway XD

I found the Hobbit films very ‘extra’ as the hobbit book is MUCH shorter than any of the Lord of the Rings books.
However, I love Middle Earth.

Actually she does more than that. In the books she gave Frodo some kind of gift at the end but I can't remember what it was and in the movie she carried Frodo to Rivendell and helped to heal him so she ain't useless!Yeah, but that's a pretty good way to spent your time.my favorit lord of the rings carecter is Arwen. All she does is kiss Aragorn.

Lord of the Rings
I'm a really big fan of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. I love watching Peter Jackson's LOTR trilogy, but The Hobbit trilogy strayed a bit too far from the book for my liking. By making two extra films, he had to fill the time and chose to fill it with lost of action and battle sequences. Too much CGI.
I thought the first Hobbit movie was promising, but the next two movies…
One annoying aspect was kind of trivial. Peter Jackson supposedly broke the world record for he longest red carpet for The Return of the King. A decade later, he decides to break his former record set by the LOTR trilogy and do it for the first Hobbit movie.
He kind of said that he wasn't going back to Middle Earth after LOTR.
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King swept all eleven Oscars it was nominated for. Together, The Lord of the Rings trilogy won 17 Academy Awards. Sort of sad, because the Hobbit, although expected to make a billion pounds in its box office debut, might not make the cut (in the Oscars).
On a slightly more positive note, the Hobbit trilogy did a nice job of filling in the back story of the Hobbit and LOTR. It also made it possible for a more or less smooth transition to LOTR. I liked Radagast's rabbit sled, though. While not entirely realistic (yeah, we're talking about giant eagles here), I did get a a kick out of them, so to speak.
I did not, however, see the need for doomed elf/dwarf love triangle. No offense, but Tauriel wasn't exactly my favorite character.
*Apologies to Peter Jackson, Philippa Boyens, Richard Taylor, Orlando Bloom, Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Benedict Cumberbatch, (and everyone else). I guess Evangeline Lilly, since I personally picked her out. To all those above, I have nothing against you or your acting/directing, etc.

I really like Gimli, too. He has some great lines (complete with a sense of humor), particularly in the Two Towers. He also has a sweet platonic relationship with Legolas and Aragorn, but especially Aragorn.

Lord of the Rings
raising this thread from the dead y'all
Lord of the Rings was my first real fandom. I first watched them when I was probably 8 or 9 and I fell in love with the magnificent characters, super interesting story line, epic music, and amazing battles. The trilogy has become something I can watch over and over again. I also enjoy listening to the (super fantastic) soundtrack while I concentrate on schoolwork - it's super motivating! My favorite characters are Legolas (he was my inspiration to get my own bow and now I'm really into archery), Aragorn (he's a boss), Arwen (elves rock), and basically all the hobbits, especially Merry and Sam. LotR will always have a very special place in my heart. <3
