I suggest anything by Dream Theater. They have so much talent, they make catchy music, and they're finally releasing their self titled album later in September. (It only took 25 years to make a self titled album)

The Distillers were a cool pop punk band with the odd hardcore punk song. Their albums “Sing Sing Death House” and “Coral Fang” have lots of great tunes. (I think All4one was getting into New Age and punk?)

Some songs:
The Young Crazed Peeling - their most mainstream song, because lol teen angst.
Beat Your Heart Out - live on Conan O' Brien. Brody looks better when not trying to look like a flail and a clown had a child. :U
Hate Me, Bullet & The Bullseye - Where their hardcore punk influences show. Can't link due to lyrics :<

If you haven't listened to Brian Eno, he's a must. Today, I purchased his compilation More Blank Than Frank, which covers his first four solo albums: Here Come the Warm Jets, Taking Tiger Mountain (by Strategy), Another Green World, and Before and After Science. Each of these albums are definitely worth checking out if you like ‘70s experimental art rock type stuff (though, come to think of it, I can’t really think of bands that sound like his stuff!)

Did you check out the Replacements' really early stuff? Before they went down the more streamlined college rock approach, they had a much more hardcore punk-oriented sound. I would check out the album “Sorry Ma, Forgot to Take Out the Trash”.

Two Steps From Hell
They are an epic orchestral group known to write and play the most powerful modern musical scores ever. In biblical terms, two steps from Hell is Heaven: Hell >> Earth >> Heaven. If anyone wants sudden inspiration, motivation, heightened courage, or just a moment of mind-blowing-ness, just listen to one (or many, or all!) of their songs.

Here are my favorites (in no particular order or rank):
I Love You Forever
Protectors of the Earth
Heart of Courage
To Glory
Skyworld
Blackheart
United We Stand, Divided We Fall
Dragon Rider
Forces of Destiny

SebastiAn is mainstream?

Don't let the album art put you off, his stuff is really good, like Ross Ross Ross or Tetra.

Whereas for Mr Oizo, I suggest you listen to Flat Beat or Jo.

If you listen to video game music on a daily basis then I recommend Touhou music.
I have head UN Owen Was Her, nothing else from Touhou.

I would suggest the album 2-Byte by Will Bedford. Also, If you have not heard the soundtracks from Kirby's Epic Yarn or Super Mario Galaxy, you need to. They are amazing.

YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! I was just about to suggest them! Two of their best albums are Invincible and Skyworld. Nero is a good one, Winterspell, and Freedom Fighters. Freedom Fighters (Remix) is unfortunately not publicly released, but it is leaked on Youtube. It's a real shame, because it's listed as a track from Skyworld album. In my opinion, the remix is their most epic track by far. I would be willing to shell out the cost for a whole album for the one track.
