Text Box adding to a game

ok so i don't know how to explain it very well but i will try my best. so i'm creating a game and there is a question section so then the game can decide what the player will do first and other things. ok so for you pokemon players on the ds or dsi or whatever the others are you know how you can type things in like your name? well thats what i wanna do in my scratch project. is there like a way i can do an answer box in my scratch game and have only people who play it use it when it comes up?

Use the Ask & Answer block
Ask [Insert what to ask here] and wait

ok another dumb question…. is there an options thing where i can set certain things for someone to click or no?
Well you could make two sprites, both with
when this sprite clicked
but otherwise, no.

when this sprite clicked
ask [Insert what to ask here] and wait
say (answer) for (X) secs

I have found a way of textboxes and although it is in VERY EARLY stages of development, i have found a way. Here is my project: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/43065844/ using text boxes

I have a question related to this; How to you use the name inserted in ‘answer’ in other textboxes that are used? To clarify, how can I make textboxes address this name?

Store the answer in a variable and use it in your text (or just use the answer variable if you don't need it for something else)

ask [] and wait
set [myname v] to (username)
say (join [hello there ] (myname))

What you said was correct, but the blocks are very slightly incorrect. I assume it's a mis-click?

I suggest you start your own topic and give more details (and share a project if possible). I'm not clear what you're asking.

Make your own topic in the forums, and remember to post the link to your project.
It's hard to help without seeing what's wrong and just hearing your description.

From what you're describing, try this:
go to x: (0) y: (0)
show
go to front
clear graphic effects
The sprite should appear in the center of the screen.
Remember to reset the position, show your sprite, and clear all effects each time you play the animation!
