A seperate Button for curating

Semi-support. This will allow FPC to still favorite projects that they didn't intend to curate (e.g, a contest they want to enter, an art dedicated to you, a bookmarked project they want to check out later). It also helps to avoid mistakes.

However, in turn, curating by favoriting allows simplicity. In my imagination, there is some lines of code on the Front Page that displays the latest 5 favorites either by getting an API or inspecting the DOM- only calls, filters and displays the result. A separate button would be a totally new feature, but as I said before, you have good points- it's a nice idea.
Featuring has a button for featuring. If they could to the code for that, then why not for curators?
Well, the lines of code could be completley different.
Changed to support, then.

I support this idea! I probably will never be a FPC, but still, I think it lets the curators have more freedom.

BUMP. Come on, we need more supporters, curators need to be able to fav projects they don't want curated.

Support! I sometimes favourite projects because I don't have time to check them out and I want to see them later.

Nice idea, but no support unfortunately

My trouble with this is that with project favorites, you are pretty much guaranteed to have at least 5 projects there. However, with a separate button, what happens for the case where the FPC has only chosen 3 projects (eg. if somebody loads the home page whilst the fpc is still going through each project and clicking the ‘curate’ button).

Also, I presume the curate button would only appear whilst the person was an fpc - ie. not before. Therefore, as soon as the curator changes at 5:00pm each Monday, the new FPC will have no projects what soever in the curate section, meaning the curator section on the home page will appear empty. Whilst this is not too much of a problem for people in the US (they can just be online at 5:00pm and select the projects there and then), people in other timezones (the UK for instance) aren't in as good a position - 5:00pm Scratch Time I believe is 10:00pm GMT, which is not viable for younger Scratchers to stay up until.

I do understand your reasoning, having heard of many accidentally curated projects, but there are just too many technicalities introduced by this, let alone the significant new code required to implement this.

Perhaps it would include the last x favourited projects? Otherwise, it would work similarly to the current failsafe.

This'll be really useful if added, but there may be extra things like testing if the person is FPC or not. Anyway, Support!

I have 2 new ideas that solves both problems in the above post.

1: Start with favorites.
The Favorited projects are shown until projects are curated.

2: Prebutton
2 days ahead of time, the next FPC is alerted and given the “curate” button.
They can not curate the project yet, but they can be ready.

Support for either of those.

Well, with favorites, what if someone only has 3 favorites too. So thatwon't be a big issue
And, maybe the curator can have the vutton beforehand, so when ready, the first 5 wil show

Definitely support! This would prevent people from accidentally curating, say, one of @griffpatch's projects.
